SYNOPSIS:

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE contemporary romance…

When my best friend Taylor gifted me a vacation at a resort owned by his grandparents, the last thing I expected was to bond with a man seventeen years older.

Tate was also vacationing alone.

He’d come to Midnight Key to clear his head and reevaluate his life.

I’d come to get over my high school sweetheart who’d dumped me.

I’d spotted the brawny, tattooed Adonis in the lobby on the first day and thought he had to be someone’s hot dad.

But then we matched on an app that paired single men and women by proximity.

The problem was? At nineteen—almost twenty—I’d lied and said I was twenty-nine.

Tate outed me on our first date, and I fessed up to my real age.

But we continued to run into each other.

And eventually we found our connection was too magnetic to deny.

While we agreed to only use first names and to part ways at the end of the trip, I’d really fallen for Tate.

I never forgot him and knew he was the one who got away.

Remember that guy friend who gifted me the trip?

Well, four years later, Taylor got married.

He’d been estranged from his dad for years, though recently they’d reconnected.

What I didn’t know was that the man I’d had that torrid affair with at the resort would be standing next to Taylor in the receiving line.

My dream man Tate? Was Taylor’s father.

Spoiler-free Review of Taylor's Father

Taylor's Father (Special Edition)Taylor's Father by Penelope Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You know that electric, fate-filled, “this cannot be happening, but I’m not walking away” kind of connection? That’s Taylor’s Father by Penelope Ward.

Blair is a woman who knows exactly what she wants and I loved that about her. She’s confident, direct, and not playing games (except maybe the kind that make Tate blush 😉). When she has a chance meeting with Tate, the attraction is instant.

Tate is carrying emotional baggage from his past, filled with regret. He’s guarded, protective, and emotionally wrecked in ways he doesn’t even want to confront. Blair just might be the woman who truly sees him, and that changes everything.
But destiny isn’t done with them after their resort vacation meeting. Of course, the universe places them in the same orbit again, and this time it’s far more complicated, messy, and forbidden.

Penelope knows exactly how to build up tension and the feels. Just when you think you know where the story is headed, she pivots with a twist that hits hard.
I love Penelope’s books, but Taylor’s Father truly hit me in the feels. Tate and Blair’s story isn’t just deliciously peppered with spice, it’s filled with heart, healing, vulnerability, and hard choices. The deliciously messy, age-gap dynamic, the chef’s kiss forbidden factor, and that relentless push-and-pull make this one absolutely unputdownable. Taylor’s Father is on my top reads of 2026 list.

A brand-new emotional, angsty romance from the USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the All of Me Series.

When Callan Hunt arrived at Ryemont High senior year, I couldn’t have predicted the hot Irish football player would become my everything … and end up breaking my heart.

College and dreams of a career in interior design were my sole focus until my new neighbor bulldozed his way into my life.

Callan had ambitions too. He planned to leave Vermont after graduation to pursue his dream of playing for an English Premier League club.

We weren’t looking for love, but fate had other plans.

When Callan was scouted during our freshman year of college, I couldn’t have been prouder.

Until everything came crashing down in one crippling blow.

After finally moving on from the heartache of my past, I now have a successful career and a billionaire CEO fiancé.

Then my first love reappears.

Spoiler-free Review: Never Stopped Loving You by Siobhan Davis

Never Stopped Loving YouNever Stopped Loving You by Siobhan Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Never Stopped Loving You by Siobhan Davis absolutely took over my life. I’m not exaggerating. I couldn’t put this emotion-packed, super angsty, all-consuming romance down. It was EPIC. This book made me forget the world for a while, and I’m so thankful for that, Siobhan. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting Callan and Astrid’s story any time soon.

In Never Stopped Loving You, Siobhan spins a wicked web of love, lies, and redemption, taking Callan and Astrid on a catastrophic romantic journey toward a hard-earned HEA. This second-chance sports romance delves into regret, longing, heartbreak, and the kind of love that never truly dies. Callan and Astrid’s relationship is chronicled from their senior year of high school through adulthood, and watching their nuclear, once-in-a-lifetime connection unfold over the years is both breathtaking and devastating.

Siobhan doesn’t just pull on my heartstrings; she shredded them. This story wrecked me and then somehow put me back together again. It’s an epic journey of the heart and soul, and every single page hurt so good. I didn’t think it was possible to love one of Siobhan’s books more than Say I’m the One from the All of Me series, but Never Stopped Loving You stole my whole heart. Completely. Never Stopped Loving You is on my top reads of 2026 list.

Caste in the Stars by Leylah Attar Kindle Crack Review

SYNOPSIS:

She did everything right—until her life fell apart.

The last place Priya Solanki wants to be is back at the funeral home her parents have run for decades—a place tied to a caste legacy the world says is long gone, but that her family carried from India to Canada and never let go of. Her traditional parents call it fate—proof that her path was written in the stars, just like the generations before her. But to Priya, it’s a life she never chose, and one she’s spent years trying to outrun. Her plan is simple: regroup, reset, and finally break the cycle.

Then Ethan Knight reappears.

Once the reckless, motorcycle-riding boy next door, he’s now a full-blown Hollywood star—older, incredibly handsome, and impossible to avoid. Adored by millions and followed everywhere by flashing cameras, he’s renting out the funeral home to prepare for a role—and flipping every piece of Priya’s plan upside down.

And finally, the stars align.

Trapped in close quarters with the boy she once loved in silence, Priya can’t escape the heat, the history, or the ache she’s buried for years. But falling for Ethan doesn’t just mean risking her heart; it means stepping into a world that was never built for someone like her—and daring to believe she belongs in it anyway.

But even if she takes the risk, what happens when Ethan leaves? Because, inevitably, he will.

Loving him wouldn’t just destroy her—it would destroy everything she’s trying to rebuild.

Spoiler-free Review

Caste in the StarsCaste in the Stars by Leylah Attar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leylah Attar delivers a laugh-out-loud, heart-squeezing, and swoon-filled escape that feels like a big-screen rom-com wrapped in Bollywood sparkle.

Priya is trying to break free from her traditional Indian parents' expectations. They want her to marry "within her caste," stay in her lane, and never forget her place in society. But Priya—a newly divorced twenty-eight-year-old with quiet fire and a craving for independence—is done playing by her parents' rules, or is she? Priya's had a lifelong crush on Ethan, her best friend's brother and a world-famous Hollywood heart-throb who suddenly needs a quiet place (her family's funeral home, no less!) to rehearse for his next role. What could possibly go wrong?

I loved the banter with Ethan, Priya, and her family; the awkward and sweet family meals, and a cute cat named Lady Whiskerbottom. All of it made this slow-burn, friends-to-lovers romance absolutely charming. Ethan's devotion and patience melted my heart. He just wanted to love her, even when she couldn't see past her parents' expectations, insecurities, and her own emotional baggage.

Leylah's writing is flawless. From the first page to the last, I couldn't put this book down. Caste in the Stars played out like a movie in my head—vivid, emotional, and completely addictive. That first kiss and that Hollywood ending? PURE SWOON. Caste in the Stars is a story about love, identity, and choosing your own happily-ever-after. Caste in the Stars is easily one of my Best of 2025 reads.

Spoiler-free review of In a Heartbeat by Laura Pavlov

In a Heartbeat (Rosewood River, #5)In a Heartbeat by Laura Pavlov
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I would literally recommend In a Heartbeat by Laura Pavlov in a heartbeat. In a Heartbeat is the fifth book in the Rosewood River series of interconnected standalones, and once again, the Chadwick brothers completely own my heart. I am obsessed with this family. I adore the Rosewood River series, and Axel and Wren’s story might just be one of my favorites so far. Their journey to a hard-earned HEA is filled with the perfect amount of sweet-and-spicy tension and tenderness, making this book impossible to put down.

If you love small-town romances with strong family dynamics, all the feels, plenty of fun, and characters who feel like coming home, this book and the entire series are a must-read. I have to mention the Chadwick brothers’ group texts. Absolute gold. Their banter had me laughing out loud and added so much heart and humor to the story.

Please excuse me while I impatiently wait for Archer’s story in Whisper Sweet Nothings, releasing February 24th, because if it’s anything like this book, I’m not ready for this series to end.

Review:

A Million Times, Yes (The Billionaires of Boston)A Million Times, Yes by Marni Mann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you ask me if you should read A Million Times by Marni Mann, I will say A Million Times YES!

Man oh Mann, Marni delivers another spicy, sweet, and oh-so-swoony treat! A Million Times Yes had me hooked from the very first to the last page.  Jordan, a dirty-talking retired NHL player turned billionaire real estate developer, meets and falls for Maya.  Maya is a hardworking, compassionate nurse who doesn’t recognize Jordan when they run into each other on their shared running trail. What begins as a steamy one-night stand quickly turns into something much deeper.  The two quickly catch feelings, but will Maya still like Jordan after she finds out the secret he is hiding? Will Maya run away from the “real” Jordan because of her emotional baggage?

I adored this book and can’t wait to get my hands on Jordan’s brother Gavin’s book, No, Don’t Ever Stop, coming in April.

A Million Times Yes is heartfelt, hot, and 100% Kindle Crack.

The Homemaker by Jewel E. Ann Kindle Book review

Synopsis:

A romance inspired by TS “Fortnight”

I was hers, but she was never mine.

Alice Yates is the hired “homemaker” for the Morrisons, an affluent couple in Minneapolis. For Alice, it’s a dream job to dress up like a 1950s housewife and read romance novels to Mr. Morrison before his afternoon nap.

But when the Morrisons’ only daughter returns home for the summer with her fiancé, Alice comes face-to-face with her shattered past—the only threat to her perfect life.

Eight years earlier, vacation rental owner Murphy Paddon had an impeccable vinyl record collection and did the most irresistible thing before kissing Alice, earning him a five-star rating. Their fortnight love affair was life-altering and ended tragically.

Murphy doesn’t know if Alice remembers him or whether he should tell his fiancée that the hired-help living in the guesthouse is the woman who irreparably broke his heart. He needs closure, but will the lingering glances and silent yearning lead to the end or just the beginning?

The Homemaker (The Chain of Lakes #1)The Homemaker by Jewel E. Ann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Homemaker by Jewel E. Ann is unputdownable Kindle Crack. This is the first book in The Chain of Lakes Series, inspired by Taylor Swift’s song Fortnight. The Homemaker takes you on a heartbreakingly beautiful—and sometimes gut-wrenching ride through second chances, tragic pasts, and the kind of love that refuses to stay buried. Let me get this out of the way first: there’s a cheating element, but it’s the kind born from unfinished business of the heart.

Alice and Murphy fell hard for each other years ago, but their short-lived romance ended when Alice had to face the painful past she’d been trying to escape. Life unraveled, and Murphy was left behind.
Fast forward years later: Alice has built a new life working as a homemaker, playing the role of a 1950s-style housewife for a wealthy couple — a job she surprisingly adores. But when the couple’s daughter and her fiancé return home for the summer, fate throws Murphy back into Alice’s world. Suddenly, all those unfinished feelings resurface, and nothing for Alice, Murphy, or the family will ever be the same again.

I loved Alice and Murphy’s complex relationship. While reading their story, I felt like walking a tightrope of emotions. The Home Maker was equal parts heartbreaking and hopeful as they slowly reconnected. Jewel weaves their journey seamlessly from past to present, crafting a tangled web of love, lies, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you crave an emotional second-chance romance that’s as addictive as it is messy, The Home Maker is one-click worthy and on my Best of 2025 list.
