Cover Reveal & Excerpt - Afraid To Fly by S.L. Jennings

I just added Afraid To Fly by S.L. Jennings to my reading list.  This May release is the second book in The Fearless series!  Read an excerpt & synopsis for Fear of Falling (Book #1) below.

Afraid To Fly

The Fearless Series: Book Two
S.L. Jennings

I’d like to tell you that I’m ok.

That the meaningless sex with countless women has somehow numbed the pain. That it’s deciphered the constant confusion in my head. Eased the self-hatred that sinks into my gut every time I look in the mirror.
I’d like to tell you that time heals all wounds.
That we evolve and grow into well-adjusted, stable adults, set on a path to right the world’s wrongs. That we are not our past…we are not our pain.
I want to tell you all those things. Hell, I want to believe all those things. But I’d be lying. I’m good at that. Living a lie is the only way I truly know how to survive.
But the day I saw her, I stopped surviving. I stopped existing. And for the first time in 24 years, I started living.
She brought me back to life. Set me free and sent my soul soaring. Made this useless shell of a man feel like…something. Something whole and real and good.
She saved me.
Although she believes I wasn’t even worth saving.

I was already loosening my tie as I stalked toward her and said, “Clothes off, boots on and get on your knees.”
Velvet didn’t waste a second. She slipped out of her one-piece in a swift movement and sank to the floor. The moment I felt her take me into her warm mouth, it was like a thousand pounds had been lifted from my shoulders.
A long time ago, long before I should have, I learned to separate the physical from the emotional and mental. I told myself that just because my young body had been stolen from me and manipulated in ways that would make even the toughest man cry out in agony, I didn’t have to feel it. Not deep down inside. I didn’t have to accept what was being done to me. So I pretended to be somewhere else. I pretended to be someone else. I let my mind drift to thoughts of my parents, imagining what they may have looked like, dreaming about happy smiles and warm hugs and kisses on my cherub-like cheeks. I painted pictures of family vacations at Disney World and barbeques in the backyard. I told myself that we would have a dog named Buddy. Mama would tie bandanas around his neck, and Papa and I would take him for walks and play Frisbee with him at the park.
I had built an imaginary fortress, and in it, nothing could touch me. I was safe. I was happy. And I was loved. That was what I told myself, and that was what I held onto everyday since to survive.
As I grew older, and was no longer held captive by the physical pain, I was left to face the emotional hurt that no one could see. I was like a pariah to the family that had taken me in. We were related but they didn’t know me, and what they did know about me was deviant and disgusting. Too awful to talk about. So I suffered silently in my mind until it became necessary to tell myself lies.
Lies like the ones I was telling myself right now.
I want this. I need this.
I’m totally normal.
There’s nothing wrong with me.
Being a man means having sex with as many women as possible.
These women desire me because they need me. They love me.
They love me.
She loves me.
It was the only way I could keep doing this. The only way the shame and disgust and self-hatred didn’t keep chip-chip-chipping away at the fragments of that broken boy. The boy that had grown up to be a shattered man. The man that couldn’t be mended.

Fear Of Falling

The Fearless Series: Book One
S.L. Jennings

I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

“Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.

“I like you collared, baby. I like you naked, I like you mine.”

Ellie Stevens has lusted over Kayne Roberts since he first walked into the import/export company she works for a little over a year ago. As Expo’s most important client, Ellie has always kept a safe distance from the man with the majestic blue eyes – until temptation finally gets the better of her. Impulsively, Ellie invites Kayne to one of Expo’s infamous company parties her flamboyant boss is notorious for throwing.
Unbeknownst to Ellie, the god in the Armani suit isn’t just the suave entrepreneur he portrays himself to be. Underneath the professional exterior is a man with a secret life, dark desires, and nefarious contacts.

In a hidden corner of a trendy New York City lounge, the spark kindling between the two of them ignites. Unable to resist the sinful attraction, Ellie agrees to leave with Kayne, believing she is finally bedding the man of her dreams. Little does she know when she walks out the door, she’s about to be Owned.

Ellie Stevens thought she had moved on from the domineering man who abducted her. Now living in Hawaii and following her dreams, no one is going to keep her down. But things aren’t always as they seem.
Kayne Rivers reluctantly let Ellie go, but just because she’s gone now, doesn’t mean she’ll be gone forever. She is his, and he won’t stop until he’s reclaimed her as his own.

My life.
My love
My happiness.
All belong to him.
I belong to no one but him.
He owns me.
And I own him.

Alternative POV Scene
I see her coming before she sees me.
She’s squeezing through the traffic jam of people in front of the door to her office building. She looks perfectly sexy like always, long brownish blonde hair flipping in the breeze, tight skirt hugging all the right curves, and white button-up top leaving everything to the imagination. I walk slowly up the sidewalk, taking my time so I can watch her. I always watch her. And right now I’m watching as her heel gets caught in a crack in the sidewalk. Watching as she flies forward and lands on her hands and knees mere feet in front of me. I hurry to help her as people pass by, either ignoring her or snickering at her as she tries to pull her wits together.
“Okay down there?” I put my hand out to help her. She looks up at me with large green eyes and rosy red cheeks. I feel my blood flow speed up. Ellie on her knees, all doe-eyed and humiliated. I’d take her in that position any day. She doesn't respond, and I frown. Did I say something wrong? Maybe she’s really hurt. “Ellie, are you okay? Do you need me to carry you?”
Her lips finally move. “No, I’m okay.” She fumbles as I pluck her up and help her to stand. She stares at me, looking a little lost. I smile down at her, and then drop my gaze lower, unable to stop myself, with her cleavage on full display; if I thought that shirt left everything to the imagination, I was just proven wrong. Her perky, smooth breasts cupped in white lace has my arousal running wild.
“Nice,” I quip before I can stop myself.
She grabs her shirt and yanks it closed, her cheeks glowing brighter. Not wanting to embarrass her any further, I open the door as she rights her shirt and re-fastens the buttons. To say I’m not disappointed would be a lie, I would much rather have her take her clothes off then put them back on.

We walk silently to the elevator, and once on, Ellie pulls the hem of her skirt up just a bit to check the scrape on her knee. I try not to gawk, but she’s giving me all types of views I have only fantasized about. I maintain my distance and professionalism when I visit Expo, the shipping company that handles the exportation of my company goods out of Mexico. Tequila and limes have been extraordinarily lucrative for me, and so has Mark, Expo’s owner. Although eccentric, he is extremely brilliant at what he does. Which is exactly why I hired him. If there is a way to save a dime, Mark will find it.
The elevator doors ding open, and mine and Ellie’s private time is over all too soon.
“Kayne,” Mark greets me with a handshake while also blinding me with a bright purple dress shirt.
“Mark,” I return.
“Everything is set up,” he informs me. “Ellie, please escort Mr. Roberts to the conference room. And tend to whatever he needs.”
“Yes, Mark,” she answers dutifully, and I swear to god hearing those words leave her lips makes me instantly hard. I take a deep breath to calm myself. I have way too many erotic images of Ellie running through my mind already, her succumbing to my darkest desires may just be the temptation of all temptations to step over the line of self-control. I don't know what is it about this girl, but from the moment I laid eyes on her, I have wanted to possess her like the sun owns the light. It’s very unlike me.
I follow Ellie to the conference room. I don’t really need an escort, I’ve been here enough times to find it on my own, but I’m not complaining. I get to watch Ellie shimmy down the hallway in that tight skirt, hugging all the right curves of her hips and ass. As nice as Ellie’s tits are, it’s her ass that has my full attention.
I make myself comfortable in one of the leather office chairs once inside the immense room with large picture windows overlooking New York City. It’s not the greatest view in the world, but for Mark’s budding company, it’s impressive enough.
“Coffee?” Ellie asks me.
“Yes, please.” I smooth my tie, trying to feign disinterest, “Milk-”
“No sugar,” she finishes my sentence. I can’t help but smile.
“You remembered.” I don't know why this surprises me, but it does. And not only does it surprise me, but pleasantly so. I like the idea of her knowing what I like. Call it my selfish desire to be served, or even better, serviced, by her.
“It’s my job not to forget,” she responds.
“Rare quality. Attentiveness,” I muse, suddenly picturing Ellie’s mouth attentively around my cock.
“I guess.” She shrugs, seeming uncomfortable. I wonder if she can read my mind, or if my professional exterior is just wavering. “I’ll be right back.” She leaves the room in a hurry.
I wonder if my stiff demeanor scared her off. Playing professional is much more of a challenge today.
Disappointingly, Ellie doesn't return before the meeting gets started. Mark was quick to rush in right after she left with his entourage of personnel.  Maybe it’s for the best. My erotic little fantasies are probably better off being just that, fantasies. Ellie is off limits, untouchable. She doesn’t belong in my world, and I certainly don’t belong in hers. Our differences are just too wide spread. Even if she was open to my self-indulgent ideals, would I really want to corrupt something so adorable? So frisky and warm? Turn a cuddly little kitten into a lecherous house cat? As she hands me my coffee and our fingers brush, I consider the answer to maybe be yes. Definitely yes. Hell fucking yes. I want her to be my kitten.  My naked, submissive, lascivious little sex kitten, who comes in a multitude of ways when I call her.
I need to stop. Put the idea of Ellie being mine completely out of my head. It can’t happen, I tell myself as I stare blatantly at her ass while she bends over and places a plate of baked goods in the center of the table. I can still look even if I can’t touch. It’s a disappointing sentiment, but one I have to stick by, no matter how much my cock curses me.
I force myself to concentrate on Mark as Ellie leaves the room. I’m here for business and that’s what I need to focus on. Too bad my mind has other plans and wanders off to an image of Ellie splayed out on the conference room table, her shirt ripped open, her breasts exposed, her skirt hiked up to her hips with my head buried between her legs- licking, sucking, savoring her sweet spot as I make her come. I’d relish in her screams right before I buried myself balls deep in her wet pussy and fucked her until I forgot where she began and I ended.
“Kayne?” I faintly hear my name. “Kayne?” Mark’s voice cuts through my vivid fantasy.
“Mmm?” I answer, mindlessly.
“What do you think?” The new route? It’s a huge cost savings in the end.”
“It’s good.” I try to sound self-assured, even though I heard little to nothing of what Mark said.
“So I can start the charters next week?” he asks eagerly.
“Absolutely.” I’m going to have to study this plan later on today. That’s what I get for daydreaming. I glance out one of the windows into the office and see Ellie. My fantasizing was totally worth it.
“Wonderful.” Mark closes his leather folder and zips it up. The meeting is adjourned.
“Do you mind if I stay and send a few emails before I go?” I ask Mark as everyone else files out.
“Of course, by all means.” He smiles.
Good, because I need a minute. If I stand up, it will be clear the very last thing I was concentrating on was work. I start to doodle on the paper in front of me, attempting to distract myself from my raging hormones.
“Ellie. Can you clean up in there?” I hear Mark yell. Oh shit. “I’m heading to lunch.”
“Yes, Mark”, is her obedient response once again, and yet another trigger for my arousal. I’m never going to get out of here. I’m screwed.
“How was the meeting?” she asks sweetly as she collects the information folders left behind.
“Excellent. Mark is a genius at logistics. He found an alternate route out of Mexico that will save a few hundred thousand over the next year. I’m pleased.” See? I was sort of paying attention.
“That’s good.” She smiles, and the sentiment shines in her eyes. There’s no false pretenses with Ellie—what you see is what you get. Maybe that’s what draws me to her, she’s genuine. I haven't had much honest-to-goodness in my life. It’s refreshing.
“No lunch for you?” she asks, as she makes her way around the table.
“I have another meeting in an hour. Mark said I can utilize the conference room to do some work and kill time.”
“I see.” She picks up the last file folder and is now standing quite close to me.
“What about you?” I ask as I eye her.
“My lunch is sitting right in front of you. I’ll be dining on miniature cupcakes.”
“Healthy,” I mock.
“I know, but they’re little. So…less calories.” She shrugs playfully.
“I guess that’s one way to spin it,” I respond, pulling the silver tray toward me. “Which flavor is your favorite?” I pin my stare on her.
She swallows thickly, “It’s a toss-up between red velvet and lemon drop.”
“Well, I’m a red velvet man myself.” I pick up the last red velvet cupcake on the plate. “Would you mind sharing your lunch with me, Ellie?”
“Of course not, it’s only polite to share,” she says, fiddling with the collar of her shirt. I think I’m getting to her. I know I shouldn't toy with her, but it’s just too easy, and I want her so much. I wonder if I pull the blinds so no one in the office can see us, could I seduce her right here on the spot, live out my fantasy just once, then never look back again? Instant gratification and selfish desire all wrapped up in sunny afternoon.
I pull the wrapper off the red cake and then split it in two. “Sit.” I order her.
Ellie immediately sits, clutching the file folders tightly to her chest. I offer her one half of the cupcake, and she takes it with shaky fingers.
“Do I make you nervous, Ellie?” I ask as I lightly lick the cream cheese frosting.
“No. Just too much coffee.” She tries to play it cool, but I can see right through her. Reading people is what I do. And I definitely intimidate Ellie.
“I see.” I stare at her intently, licking off the icing exactly how I would lick her clit given the change; slowly, in a circular motion, covering every single inch. “Aren't you going to eat?” I ask enticingly, right before I stuff the naked cupcake into my mouth. Yum.
I raise my eyebrows expectantly as Ellie just sits there unable to move. That’s when she shoves her half of the cupcake into her mouth. I can’t help but smirk and brush a crumb off her bottom lip. This is the most unintimidating woman I have ever met, and hands down the sexiest.
If I were ever going to break my own rules, it would definitely be for her.

The More Series by Jay Mclean
April 30

More Than This #1

In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.

One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.

*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*

He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years.
I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future.
I couldn’t even predict it.
It was one night.
One night when everything changed.
It was so much more than just the betrayal.
It was the Tragedy.
The Deaths.
The Murders.
But it was also that feeling.
The feeling of falling.

More Than Her #2
For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction." For every choice you make there are rewards, or there are consequences. It was my choice to walk away the first time. And my choice to chase her the second. But sometimes you don't get a choice, and all you get are the consequences.” "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” Unless that someone is Logan Matthews. Because loving him didn't give me the strength to walk away. It didn't give me the courage to fight for him. And when it was over, all it gave me was a broken heart.

Amazon UK:

More Than Him #3
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." - Marianne Williamson

We live in a world of darkness and shadows,
where monsters hide and aim to ruin.
And they did.
They ruined us and turned our dreams into nightmares.
But now we're back.
And we're fighting.
Not just for us, or for each other, but for our light.

Amazon UK:

There is a love so fierce it cannot be measured.
A heart so strong it will never slow.
There is a promise so sure it can never lie.
He promised me that love forever.
Even when it wasn't enough.

Forever. Everlasting. Eternal.
There is no measure of time.
No sounds of the ticking of a clock.
Just the rising and falling of the sun.
And our own sense of forever.

But our forever isn't always.

Black Iris by Leah Raeder is LIVE!

“This book is something I never thought I’d have the guts to write. Unteachable was much easier; it was all fiction.  Black Iris isn’t.  Some of it, I lived.”

This story is haunting and written from the author's own experiences. Check out my five star review.

It only took one moment of weakness for Laney Keating’s world to fall apart. One stupid gesture for a hopeless crush. Then the rumors began. Slut, they called her. Queer. Psycho. Mentally ill, messed up, so messed up even her own mother decided she wasn't worth sticking around for.

If Laney could erase that whole year, she would. College is her chance to start with a clean slate.

She's not looking for new friends, but they find her: charming, handsome Armin, the only guy patient enough to work through her thorny defenses—and fiery, filterless Blythe, the bad girl and partner in crime who has thorns of her own.

But Laney knows nothing good ever lasts. When a ghost from her past resurfaces—the bully who broke her down completely—she decides it's time to live up to her own legend. And Armin and Blythe are going to help.

Which was the plan all along.

I'm speechless. This book...this writer....Absolute Kindle Crack! 5 stars. Full review to follow.

Spoiler-free review
Title: Black Iris
Author: Leah Raeder
Release Date: April 28, 2014
Rating: 5 stars
Cliffhanger: No

First off... You need to go into this book blind. Do not read any reviews w/spoilers.

Leah Raeder’s writing is stunning.  Each and every page is filled with poetic intensity. Her writing style is robust and descriptive.  She has a way of describing emotions and capturing her surroundings and as a result each and every page comes to life. It took me a while to read this book because I kept going back and rereading and highlighting so many lines.  This story is intense, raw, and Raeder’s words will cut through you like a chainsaw.

Black Iris is a story that is a huge mind f*ck of a read. This all-consuming story of revenge chronicles the narrator's (Laney) decent into a bipolar and drug infused haze.  Laney has to battle mental and physical demons as she navigates issues with her sexuality, bullying, and her mother’s mental illness. This story is haunting and written from the author's own experiences.

“This book is something I never thought I’d have the guts to write. Unteachable was much easier; it was all fiction.  Black Iris isn’t.  Some of it, I lived.”

It pains me to think that the author dealt with bullying and depression. Raeder doesn’t sugar coat any of it. I wouldn’t expect her to, that’s not who she is.  This book was unputdownable and absolute Kindle Crack.  FIVE huge dark stars.  Bravo Leah Raeder.

I feel like I just won the book lottery with Echo. E.K.’s writing is nothing short of brilliant.   This unique book series should be made into a cable show or movie.  Bravo EK Blair!   Check out my review below.

ECHO (Black Lotus, book 2)
Coming May 12
A Psychosexual Thriller

It's been said the longest echo ever measured lasted 75 seconds, but I can assure you, this will last much longer. The bang deafened the world around me, muting everything into nullity, allowing the reflection of its destruction to live far beyond its intended life.

It will follow me forever, destroying me—destroying you.

You want answers?

So do I.

FIRST LOOK – Echo (The Black Lotus Series Book #2)
Rating – Five Stars
Release Date: May 12, 2015
Author: E.K. Blair

I set my expectation level super high for Echo after reading Bang.  I am super happy to say that one of my most anticipated book releases of the year surpassed my expectation level.  I love when that happens.  I feel like I just won the book lottery with Echo.

A few things to note:
1. I highly recommend reading Bang (Book #1) prior to reading Echo (Book #2).  I tried to skim Bang and ended up rereading it. I got sucked in all over again.
2. You need to go into reading this book totally blind. This review is spoiler free. I will not even give you a hint about what's to come. I want you to have the same experience as me.
3. Be prepared to pull an all-nighter. You will not be able to put this book down.

In Echo, E.K. Blair continues weaving Nina’s dark and depraved story of vengeance. E.K. spins an unforgettable and intricate web of love, lies, murder and mayhem. Real world monsters with blackened hearts come to life in this psychosexual thriller.  Nothing about these characters or this story feels sugar coated. The twisted plot and intense character development made this book absolutely unputdownable.  My brain is shredded, and I can’t “wash my eyes out” after reading and envisioning some of the madness. I binge read this book.  I had no choice.  This fine piece of Kindle Crack was worth the year long wait. E.K.’s writing is nothing short of brilliant.   This unique book series should be made into a cable show or movie.  Bravo EK Blair!

Big Love Abroad by Jasinda Wilder is LIVE

Big Love Abroad by Jasinda Wilder is LIVE.  Read an excerpt below from this big love story!

I was finally fulfilling my life-long dream of studying at Oxford University in England. I had a thesis. I had an apartment. The one thing I didn’t have was time for a man. Especially not one as sexy and intriguing and distracting as Ian Stirling. Okay, I mean, maybe I did have a little time for a man. After all, it’s not every day a ripped British sex-god sweeps you off your feet and does dirty, delicious things to you.
Again and again. And again.
For days.  The problem is, Ian was just supposed to be a hunky distraction, but now my heart is craving him like my mouth craves cupcakes.

Thoughts were zapped away as Ian let my jeans and underwear fall in a heap

around my ankles. On shaky legs I stepped out of them, one at a time,

forcing my muscles to obey despite my fear and uncertainty and worry and

discomfort. Despite my best efforts, my insecurities revealed themselves

again. They were, in fact, rising to the surface as Ian’s hands roamed down

Alasdair Masters is in a rut. He just hit forty, has been nearly celibate for the past year, and his life has turned into a daily sequence of lonely patterns that revolve around avoiding human contact.

His tidy life is turned on its head when a hot young blonde at the gym that’s been pseudo-stalking him decides to rock his world. A very young blonde. Way, way too young for him. The problem is, he can’t seem to tell her no, and she just keeps coming back for more.

It doesn’t help that he’s ninety percent sure she’s a criminal, and still, he can’t seem to turn her down.  What is a dull introvert to do when a chaotic cyclone that oozes sexuality comes twisting into his life?

At first, he thinks she’ll give him a heart attack, but after his twenty-year marriage ended a year ago, he’s been a little lost, and when she comes crashing into his life, he realizes that he’s never felt more alive.

Is a walk on the wild side just what he needs to get his on track or a disaster in the making? Is it possible for someone that much younger to be just what he needs, or is she a fortune hunter, as everyone keeps telling him? Is it his hormones telling him that the mysterious younger woman is the one, or could it be more?

Who is Iris? Where did she come from? Where has she gone?

Alasdair Masters has more questions than answers about his new, too young obsession, and when he finds out she’s been lying to him, from their first meeting to their last one, he’s more confused than ever about her feelings, her intentions.

And what’s just as confusing are his own feelings. Has he turned something purely physical into something emotional in his own head? Is any of it mutual?

The only thing he doesn’t question is whether he’ll keep going back for more.

Me, I was simple. I was order. A very neat, efficient machine that ran on nothing but air.

Me plus anyone else, well, that was another matter. And me plus Iris, that was a monster of a machine, with all gears going at different speeds, some spinning off their hinges, just going mad, but it was a wonderful madness, at full throttle, misfiring in all directions.

It felt wonderful and dreadful.
I was breaking down, and it felt amazing.
And terrifying.

Dair (The Wild Side #3)

I’d started writing everything about her down. I didn’t want to forget.
The color of her hair. The depth of her eyes. The stubborn shape of her jaw. The way her lips shaped words with such expression. The way her voice made my chest ache. The way she gave advice beyond her years.
The way she listened like she cared about every word.

The way she made me feel—Alive.

Every curve and hollow of her body was recorded, in my mind, and now my hard drive.
There was a bit of truth in every lie, and even if it had only been fed to me in the smallest increments, I wanted, needed to remember the real Iris.

Because in the end, there was one irrefutable thing that I couldn’t deny.

Hostage or hustler, sinner or saint, whatever she was or wasn’t, whether she lied to my face or taunted me with hints of the truth, all of this seemed always to defer to the more pertinent fact at hand.

She was mine.

After yet another shocking discovery, followed by a disturbing letter, Dair is almost certain Iris has left his life for good. He tries his best to move on.
Easier said than done, and when an unexpected and dangerous opportunity arises for him to find out what happened to her, he doesn’t hesitate to take it.
As usual, with Iris, the answer leaves him more lost than the question.
Every revelation is shrouded in mystery, and every disclosure leaves Dair more in the dark than ever.
And when finally, the messy truth is revealed in its entirety, will he be ready for it?

This is the final installment in Iris and Dair’s story
This book is intended for readers 18 and up.
