Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance

Tropes: Boss/Intern, Dominant Hero, Billionaire

Release Date: January 11, 2026

BLURB

He lives by a set of rules. She might be his one exception.

I just wanted a distraction, something to take the edge off before facing a wedding I was dreading. So on the flight back to New York, I signed up for a dating app. Harmless enough, right?

Wrong.

Turns out, it wasn’t just any app—it catered to people with very specific tastes. By the time I realized it, I was already on my date.

Tall, confident, and sinfully handsome, Jagger Langston seemed like the full package. The chemistry between us was instant—electric enough to burn the whole city down. Though things took a turn when we figured out I’d misunderstood who should join the app. We laughed it off, said goodbye, and went our separate ways.

Or so I thought.

Until I walked into my new internship Monday morning, ready to put the weekend behind me, and there he was—my boss.

Now I’m caught between the rules he lives by—and the temptation to make him break every single one of them.

Spoiler-free Review of The Exception by Vi Keeland

The ExceptionThe Exception by Vi Keeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Exception by Vi Keeland was truly exceptional — a little kink, a lot of laughs, plenty of tension, and just the right amount of the feels to make you forget the world for a while. This workplace, opposites-attract romance is everything.

Sutton is a smart and sassy algorithm expert who meets Jagger on a dating app called DARE. They figure out pretty quickly that Sutton isn’t into Jagger’s brand of fun. They part ways until her internship begins. Enter Jagger: Sutton’s spicy, demanding new boss who will have you swooning from page one.

I also adored Sutton’s best friend, Miles. Everyone needs a Miles in their life. His banter with Sutton about Jagger is hysterical. He’s the ultimate best friend: loyal, chaotic in the best possible way, and the comedic relief we all need.
I would share my favorite quotes, but I don’t want to spoil the fun for you.

The Exception, releasing January 11, 2026, is another unputdownable and addictive romance from Vi. It has officially earned a spot on my Best of 2025/26 list.

The wolf is a hunter, the rabbit its prey.

Matt McCready had nothing once; now, he has it all.
Money. Fame. The big house. A fancy car. His boys. The band.

Still, one thing was missing. Something he never hoped to find.
Until an intriguing girl with hazel-green eyes brought a pizza to his door.

He didn’t know it then, the first time he met Gina, she was only four.
His childhood friend’s little sister, but she wasn’t little anymore.

And now that he'd found her, he had to go after her, even if he lost a friend.
It was far too late when he realized he could lose a lot more than that.

Run, little rabbit, run.
I will catch you.

*Rhythm Man, book 7 in the Red Door series, contains subject matter that may be sensitive or triggering to some readers and is intended for mature audiences. While you don't need to read the previous books in the series, as this is a standalone novel featuring a unique romance, it is highly recommended. Red Door is a series of interconnected standalone novels. All of the main characters reappear, and some storylines entwine throughout each book. For the best experience, the series should be read in order.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rhythm Man by Dyan Layne is smoking hot!

Just wait until you hit chapters 2 and 24. I’m pretty sure I melted my Kindle screen while reading Rhythm Man (Red Door Series #7). I absolutely love this series of spicy, interconnected standalones. Each book packs a lot of heart and heat.

I highly recommend reading the Red Door series in order to fully appreciate the characters’ complex backstories. You won’t feel lost if you start with this one, but reading the series in order really gives you the full Red Door experience, and it’s so worth it!

I’m excited for Kit’s story, The Bassline (Red Door Series #8).

Caste in the Stars by Leylah Attar Kindle Crack Review

SYNOPSIS:

She did everything right—until her life fell apart.

The last place Priya Solanki wants to be is back at the funeral home her parents have run for decades—a place tied to a caste legacy the world says is long gone, but that her family carried from India to Canada and never let go of. Her traditional parents call it fate—proof that her path was written in the stars, just like the generations before her. But to Priya, it’s a life she never chose, and one she’s spent years trying to outrun. Her plan is simple: regroup, reset, and finally break the cycle.

Then Ethan Knight reappears.

Once the reckless, motorcycle-riding boy next door, he’s now a full-blown Hollywood star—older, incredibly handsome, and impossible to avoid. Adored by millions and followed everywhere by flashing cameras, he’s renting out the funeral home to prepare for a role—and flipping every piece of Priya’s plan upside down.

And finally, the stars align.

Trapped in close quarters with the boy she once loved in silence, Priya can’t escape the heat, the history, or the ache she’s buried for years. But falling for Ethan doesn’t just mean risking her heart; it means stepping into a world that was never built for someone like her—and daring to believe she belongs in it anyway.

But even if she takes the risk, what happens when Ethan leaves? Because, inevitably, he will.

Loving him wouldn’t just destroy her—it would destroy everything she’s trying to rebuild.

Spoiler-free Review

Caste in the StarsCaste in the Stars by Leylah Attar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leylah Attar delivers a laugh-out-loud, heart-squeezing, and swoon-filled escape that feels like a big-screen rom-com wrapped in Bollywood sparkle.

Priya is trying to break free from her traditional Indian parents' expectations. They want her to marry "within her caste," stay in her lane, and never forget her place in society. But Priya—a newly divorced twenty-eight-year-old with quiet fire and a craving for independence—is done playing by her parents' rules, or is she? Priya's had a lifelong crush on Ethan, her best friend's brother and a world-famous Hollywood heart-throb who suddenly needs a quiet place (her family's funeral home, no less!) to rehearse for his next role. What could possibly go wrong?

I loved the banter with Ethan, Priya, and her family; the awkward and sweet family meals, and a cute cat named Lady Whiskerbottom. All of it made this slow-burn, friends-to-lovers romance absolutely charming. Ethan's devotion and patience melted my heart. He just wanted to love her, even when she couldn't see past her parents' expectations, insecurities, and her own emotional baggage.

Leylah's writing is flawless. From the first page to the last, I couldn't put this book down. Caste in the Stars played out like a movie in my head—vivid, emotional, and completely addictive. That first kiss and that Hollywood ending? PURE SWOON. Caste in the Stars is a story about love, identity, and choosing your own happily-ever-after. Caste in the Stars is easily one of my Best of 2025 reads.

In a Heartbeat (Rosewood River, #5)In a Heartbeat by Laura Pavlov
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I would literally recommend In a Heartbeat by Laura Pavlov in a heartbeat. In a Heartbeat is the fifth book in the Rosewood River series of interconnected standalones, and once again, the Chadwick brothers completely own my heart. I am obsessed with this family. I adore the Rosewood River series, and Axel and Wren’s story might just be one of my favorites so far. Their journey to a hard-earned HEA is filled with the perfect amount of sweet-and-spicy tension and tenderness, making this book impossible to put down.

If you love small-town romances with strong family dynamics, all the feels, plenty of fun, and characters who feel like coming home, this book and the entire series are a must-read. I have to mention the Chadwick brothers’ group texts. Absolute gold. Their banter had me laughing out loud and added so much heart and humor to the story.

Please excuse me while I impatiently wait for Archer’s story in Whisper Sweet Nothings, releasing February 24th, because if it’s anything like this book, I’m not ready for this series to end.

Donovan Malachite was the opposite: he could inflict pain without lifting a finger. One look could send a zing up anyone’s spine. Feared and revered as a ruthless businessman, Donovan was groomed to inherit his father’s empire and carry out his mother’s calculated plans. He’d never admit his quiet fascination with his innocent neighbor, Tulya.

They set out to right someone else’s wrong.

Instead, they break all the rules.

And maybe…each other.

Can their budding love survive when the world seems determined to use their powers for anything but happiness?

Review: Crazy in Love by Laura Pavlov

Crazy in Love by Laura Pavlov is now live!  Check out my spoiler-free review of this small town, billionaire, enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine romance from USA Today and Amazon #1 bestselling author, Laura Pavlov.  Download and read for free in Kindle Unlimited.

Synopsis:

Emilia Taylor hates me, which is absolutely fine by me, because I don’t particularly care much for her either.

Maybe I took things too far, but I decided she was the enemy a long time ago, and she gave me no reason to think differently.
At least not until recently.
And when she sets her mind to prove me wrong, she goes all in.
I’m willing to admit when I’m wrong—because it sure as hell doesn’t happen very often.
But being vulnerable with a woman who I was convinced was out for my family was a big pill to swallow.
So, I’d rather send her a fancy gift and call this vendetta done.
However, she is anything but predictable.
She doesn’t want a fancy gift from a man who she’s declared a broody, heartless billionaire.
Her words not mine.
And it’s not like you can send flowers to a woman who owns a floral shop.
She wants a sincere apology instead but that may be more than I can give.
She’s sunshine and rainbows, and I’m… well not.
But when the first tear rolls down her cheek, I swear something inside me cracks.
Turns out, my cold jaded heart still works.
Apparently, it beats for the one woman I never saw coming.

Review of Crazy in Love

Crazy in Love (Rosewood River #4)Crazy in Love by Laura Pavlov
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m crazy in love with Crazy in Love by Laura Pavlov!  Book four in the Rosewood River series gives readers the enemies-to-lovers romance we’ve been waiting for with Bridger and Emilia.

Bridger always knew two things: he despised Emilia, believing she was the anonymous author of the Taylor Tea gossip column, and he didn’t do relationships. Emilia, who had always had a little crush on him years ago in school, wasn’t exactly his biggest fan after years of him acting like a complete jerk. Their journey is messy, emotional, and full of hurdles, but watching them face their dysfunctional baggage and slowly uncover their true feelings was so satisfying. Bridger may be Laura’s grumpiest, most prickly hero yet, and Emilia, that big ray of sunshine, is the one person who can get under his skin and into his dark heart.

As always, the small-town magic of Rosewood River shines. Family, friendships, laugh-out-loud banter, and swoony romance make this book feel like the warm hug I didn’t know I needed. Laura delivers every time, and Crazy in Love is another unputdownable, one-click worthy addition to this series.
