Kate is a Florida college student and an avid surfer. She starts to hang out with other student surfers and crush on the man whore of the group when she meets Caleb, who sweeps her off her feet.  While Caleb looks good on paper, things are not as they seem.  Kate starts to figure out that Caleb might break her surfboard or her heart.

The Secrets We Held by E.K Blair tackles some sensitive issues. I liked this book and connected with characters about 50% of the way into it. I’m looking forward to reading The Truths We Told when it releases on 3/12.

Great and Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros

This slow-burning romance was isn’t just good; it’s great and precious!

Great and Precious Things is a slow-burning love story packed full of hard-won and endearing great and precious moments. Cam and Willow are old friends who need to deal with some unaddressed emotions. Willow is Cam’s dead brother’s former girlfriend and untouchable in Cam’s eyes. Cam, who recently retired from the Army Special Forces, blames himself for his brother’s death. He returns home many years to a small town of people that despise him, including his own father. Cam and Willow have to so many family-related hurdles and emotional baggage to sort through. They tip-toe through a mine-field of love, lies, guilt, and deception to find each other. Great and Precious Things was beautifully written and not overdramatic. The end was just a perfect beginning! I loved this one.

About the Author:

I’m a hopeless romantic and adore all things chocolate, coffee and paleo. No, seriously, I need to have a caffeine IV put in. I’ve adored reading all my life, and writing naturally evolved from my love of late nights and promises of one more page.

I’m also a military wife of sixteen years. During my husband’s deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I was devouring a book a day, and during his third deployment, I finally wrote my own. With a somewhat ironic timing, I received my book deal for Full Measures during his fourth deployment, and published a month after he returned home. I want MORE JADE! I didn’t know this book is part of a trilogy when I started to read it. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am! I’m so happy to get some more Jade and Cruz; they are such likable characters. More Jade is set in college and wasn’t your typical YA/NA cookie-cutter rock romance. This book isn’t heavy or overdramatic, but it was a page-turner. I can’t wait to read some More Jade!

Did Penelope Ward just make me cry? Omg, she did! She also made me laugh and swoon over Caleb, a beautiful British exchange student. Gah, I want to love like that all over again. Dam. This all-consuming emotion-packed angsty romance made my heart skip a beat! My heart hasn’t done the whole flip flop thing in forever. 

I love Penelope Ward and this unputdownable college romance. Just One Year brought so much JOY into my romance book-loving heart! Best of 2020.

The Life You Stole by Jewel E. Ann

Thank you to my blood pressure meds for doing your job and getting me through The Life You Stole by Jewel E. Ann.  I’m at a loss for words. I’m blown away by this book, by this writer, gah... just everything about this series. The conclusion was one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride of love, pain, entangled hearts, and bitter twisted love. This book series is the definition of Kindle Crack.

Monica James’ Bullseye hit the target! Monica spins a multi-layered dark romance that is dark, gritty, and raw. This book is a cluster-eff (can't say the word) of epic proportions.

Bull (Cody) is a monster, hell-bent on revenge. Tiger (Lilly) is the one woman who tempted his blood lust in an entirely different way. Bull will get his revenge on the animals that hurt his family, but will Tiger turn into emotional collateral damage?

ADAM:

By the time that job was over I realized something.

I loved her.

I guess that’s what happens when you get used to something and then someone tries to take it away from you.

Because our trip home from Pensacola was two days later than planned and Indie Anna didn’t smile a single second of that ride.

She didn’t cry, either. But I could tell she wanted to.

Because if all those terrible things hadn’t happened, she would belong to him right now. She would be living in that little brick house with Nathan St. James.

She would be whole, and normal, and maybe even happier.

Creeping Beautiful was one heck of a wild ride. This book was an experience! Go in blind. Don’t read full-blown book report reviews that might giveaway spoilers. Creeping Beautiful is equally mind-bending and wickedly suspenseful. There are so many intricate twists and turns that make this book such a page-turner. I'm looking forward to reading Pretty Nightmare (Creeping Beautiful #2) when it releases on May 12th.
