They say that every tragic hero has a fatal flaw, a secret sin, a tiny stitch sewn into his future since birth.  And here I am.  My sins are no longer secret. My flaws have never been more fatal.  And I’ve never been closer to tragedy than I am now.

I am a man who loves, a man whose love demands much in return.  I am a king, a king who was foolish enough to build a kingdom on the bones of the past. I am a husband and a lover and a soldier and a father and a president.

And I will survive this.

Long live the king.

REVIEW OF AMERCIAN KING
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
description

American King. OMG, I’m speechless. How did I go from a hot and bothered to crying and back again? What a story! This book is magical. You’ll understand after you read it. American King might be my favorite out of this combustible series.

American King is the last installment in the New Camelot Trilogy. Once again, Sierra Simone managed to spin another wickedly erotic, smart, heartfelt web of love, lust, lies, and sacrifices. This one-of-a-kind, second chance forbidden romance is KING! American King will have your heart racing and your Kindle overheating again and again.

I can’t believe Greer, Embry, and Ash’s story is over. I have to say this emotion-packed journey will melt your e-reader and captivate your heart. There are so many smart and sexy twists and turns in this erotic rollercoaster romance and an ending that is going to leave you breathless and maybe believing in fairytales.

Sierra Simone, my Queen of mfm romance, I bow down (and kneel) to you. Five huge stars!

REVIEW OF HOLDING ONTO FOREVER
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Total binge read!

When I decided to read Holding Onto Forever, by Heidi McLaughlin, I had a feeling that it was going to be good because I loved the other books in the Beaumont series. I’ve been a little leery about reading series spin-offs lately. There have been times I have read a spin-off, and it was so-so, or I felt lost (if I didn’t read the original book it was based on). I’m thrilled to report that this wasn’t the case!

Holding Onto Forever is the first book in The Beaumont Series: Next Generation #1. Over the years I read and loved all of the Beaumont books. This is the story of Noah and Peyton, children of the 4225 West bandmates and their friends. I literally binge read Holding Onto Forever. This book was beautiful, heartbreaking and all-consuming. I couldn’t put this book down if I tried. I had the chills reading the first few chapters. Dare, I say this is one of my favorite books by Heidi. IT WAS THAT AMAZING!

This friends-to-lovers romance needs to be your next one-click.

Excerpt:
Kyle Zimmerman, one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the league, and Chicago’s most eligible bachelor is holding my hand as he guides me to his car. The schoolgirl in me is trying not to let his presence affect me, at least not on the outside. On the inside, though, I’m all a ball of nerves mixed with excitement.  Who would’ve thought a simple assignment would turn into a date? Not me. Not in a million years, but here I am, being helped into his car and anxiously waiting for him to get behind the steering wheel.
And once he does, the sweet scent of his cologne fills the small space. I find myself leaning a bit closer to him so I can inhale deeply without looking like a creeper. Kyle smiles. It’s an ear-to-ear grin with a slight chuckle. I’ve been caught, but he doesn’t seem to care. He leans forward, pulling himself away from me. It’s probably best. We’ve just met and if he kissed me now, I don’t know what I would do.
“Tell me about yourself, Peyton.”
“I’m majoring in broadcast journalism. I love football. I’m a twin.”
“Is your twin as pretty as you?”
“Prettier,” I tell him.
“Impossible,” he replies, never breaking eye contact with me. “What do you know about me?”
“Everything, yet nothing. Your rookie year, you sat on the bench but started your second year. You threw sixteen touchdowns, eleven interceptions and accumulated 3,440 yards. Your completion rate was fifty-eight percent. This year, you’re pushing seventy percent and in line to win the league MVP. You’ve thrown for almost 4,500 yards, twenty-five touchdowns and four interceptions.”
Kyle’s eyes widen as his mouth drops open. “Wow, you had to go and bring up my first year, huh?”
I shrug. “You asked, but …”

Review by Kindle Crack Book Reviews:
The Edge of Always (The Edge of Never, #2)The Edge of Always by J.A. Redmerski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
ARC kindly provided by Netgalley and Hachette Book Group, Grand Central Publishing Forever in exchange for an honest review.  No cliff hanger. Book one should be read first. Spoiler-free review.  Release date – November 5th.  Five stars.

The Edge of Always is the stunning conclusion of J.A. Redmerski’s The Edge of Never series. Camryn and Andrew are back on the road living their dream in book two.  Their spontaneous adventure continues with a few painful pit stops and detours to tackle some real issues with drugs, dependency and health.  Camryn and Andrew’s hearts were like passports…stamped with so many emotions. They visited love, lust, pleasure, pain and depression to name a few.

TEOA unravels from both Camryn and Andrew's POV.  It was so nice getting into Andrew's head and I think I might love him a little more in book two!  There were times that I wanted to hug and smack the heck out of Camryn (but mostly hug).  The Edge of Never (Book #1) is still my favorite…but book two was certainly worth the wait.  JRed did not disappoint -- if anything she exceeding my expectations with how this story continued.  The Edge of Always had me on the edge of my seat up until the very last page. I was swept away in Camryn and Andrew’s emotional road map and loved the way this story played out.

I can only wish a spin off with a new character that came into the picture. Maybe we will be lucky and get “The Edge of Forever”? This book is an absolute must read. Thanks for the Kindle Crack J.A. Redmerski.

Author Bio:
I wrote a poem when I was nine years old called 'Without You' and it was published in an anthology. That is where my writing journey began.
I bounced around between jobs and career ideas for a long time before I decided I wanted to take writing seriously. With nothing but college level qualifications and a mind full of inspiration, I sat at my desk and scribbled plan after plan onto A5 paper. In a few hours I had planned six novels including a trilogy. A full time mother to an energetic little boy, I thought writing and publishing was a long shot, and something I would keep in a drawer to read to myself, afraid to share what I had written.
But here I am, an independent author, full time mother and insomniac.
I write sexy contemporary romance with a twist. Most of my stories are every day occurrences, things often thought of as irrelevant, although they affect and consume peoples lives every day. I create strong characters, emotional story lines and journeys with no simple road to the desired destination. Life isn't about where you end up, it's about the paths you take to get there and the people and events you encounter on the way, and that is what I aim to show with my writing.
I have many more stories on the way, and I hope everyone who reads, enjoys them and is able to relate to them in one way or another.

My Review:
In the FieldsIn the Fields by Willow Aster

My rating: 5+ of 5 stars

Willow Aster is effing amazing! Review to follow.

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. This review is spoiler-free. No cliffhanger. Five+ black and white stars.

Once again Willow Aster knocked it out of the park and In The Fields. Home run! I absolutely LOVED Aster’s first book – A True Love Story and couldn’t wait to read her second book. While ITF is radically different than her first book its equally captivating. I set my expectation level pretty high after reading ATLS. In the Fields surpassed my expectations. This book will sit on my favorites shelf next to ATLS.

I will top-line my review so I can remain spoiler free. In The Fields takes place in the 1970’s in the heart of Tennessee. Civil rights laws might have been put in play but deep seeded racist beliefs are still prevalent. Caroline is a young white girl who is in love with her best friend Isaiah – who is black. They keep their relationship a secret since it’s is considered unacceptable to family and friends.

Life isn't as sweet as the peaches that grow in the fields by Caroline's home. She is abandoned by her alcoholic father and her selfish mother leaves her for weeks at a time to fend for herself. Caroline and Isaiah dream of leaving their KKK loving town and marrying and living somewhere progressive. Then one day, one quick walk in the fields changes everything and life will never be the again.

To say this book is written well is an understatement. Willow Aster is an incredible story teller and such an exceptional writer. Every sentence crafted with such precision so that each character comes to life. Her writing is poetic and packed with emotion. Albeit, the "event" that happened in the fields was predictable...it still shocked me when it happened. In the Fields is truly an epic journey about conquering adversity and second chance love. What a love story! Would I recommend this book? Is Willow Aster on my auto-download list? Do I live for books like this? Yes, yes and yes! It’s writers like Aster that make me love writing reviews. SYNOPSIS
Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

EXCERPT #1 - Lexie’s Confession
I breathe deep and pull myself to my feet, walking slowly to the open confessional. I hesitate at the door, but then remind myself that this is Italy … where they speak Italian. I can confess my worst of sins, and the priest probably won’t understand a word. I step in and close the door, then kneel in front of the thick red curtain separating the saint from the sinner.
“Nel nome del Padre, e del Figlio, e dello Spirito Santo. Amen,” a deep sandpaper voice says from the other side of the curtain.
I cross myself as the priest prays the Sign of the Cross, then bow my head and close my eyes. “Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been … well … a whole lot of days since my last confession. Probably a year or more. I accuse myself of the following sins. I … used the Lord’s name in vain at least … oh, God—” Shit! My hands fly to my face. “Like that … I just don’t think about it, and it comes out of my mouth. I’ve done it thousands of times. Maybe a million. Twice just since I walked into this church.” I shake my head at myself. “I’m terrible. But that’s not the worst. I’ve stolen from my friends. There was this scarf I got for Sam for her birthday that I decided to keep … so I guess it’s not really stealing, but it felt like it, and there were the flip-flops that Katie loaned me that I never returned—I even brought them with me to Italy. And I swore at my stepmother when she wouldn’t let me go out with my boyfriend until I cleaned the bathroom, but I knew he had this big romantic thing planned for our three-year anniversary and I was pretty sure we were going to have sex … which I guess I also need to confess … I had a lot of sex with my boyfriend before he turned into a douche—pardon my French … or English, I guess—but that was almost a year ago … when I still had a boyfriend … and, what else … I sort of cheated on a history exam last semester because Drake Mulhollan left his book open where I could see it, and during finals I wished my roommate dead one day when she was having sex with her boyfriend all freakin’ day so I couldn’t get into my room to get my books—she didn’t die, by the way … I mean, my wish didn’t come true or anything like that … but I wished it, which I’m pretty sure is a sin. And then there was the time I lied to Dad about the dent in the car … and the baggie he found in my backpack wasn’t really oregano … which, oh yeah, there was the pot thing too, but it was just a phase so …” I trail off, recognizing the fact that I’m babbling on to avoid the actual reason I’m here. I breathe deep and wipe my sweaty palms on my jeans. “And I stole my stepbrother’s T-shirt …” I swallow hard, “after we had sex,” I blurt, then I’m running downhill again, words tumbling out of my mouth before I even think them, “and it was truly mind-blowing. It’s all I can think about, and I want to do it again and, oh God—shit! See, I just can’t stop myself from saying oh God. But my stepbrother is so …” I growl in frustration and grab fistfuls of my hair. “ … incredible. He’s just fucking incredible—pardon my French. I’ve never felt the things he made me feel, you know … and God, I think I might …” I yank my hair as I shake my head hard. “I don’t know. It was just sex, right? I mean … as much as he made me feel, it was just …” I bury my face in my hands. “He’s my stepbrother. Why can’t I stop wanting him?”
“That is a question you will have to answer for yourself,” the voice says from the other side of the curtain.
“Oh God!”
“That would now be a million and seven, by my count. I hope you brought your rosary to Italy as well as your friend’s flip-flops.”
“You speak English!”
“I do, child. Is there more you are in need of confessing?”
“Hell, no!”

MY REVIEW:
Rock Bottom (Bullet, #2)Rock Bottom by Jade C. Jamison
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. Spoiler-free.  This book does not end with a cliffhanger. I recommend reading Bullet by Jade C. Jamison (book 1) before reading Rock Bottom…but this book can also be enjoyed as a stand-alone. 4.5 – 5.0 stars!

Ethan Richards is in one of the biggest rock bands of all time.  But the only thing “rock” about his life is the hard rock bottom he has hit.  Before he entered rehab (again) the only tracks he was laying were the tracks on his arms. Ethan has been on a downward spiral into a drug induced abyss. Everyone in his life became collateral damage in the wake of his drug fueled existence.  He almost killed his wife, who in turn took their toddler son and left him.  His band is exhausted of his erratic and dangerous behavior. Everyone gave up on the charismatic, smoldering hot, self-absorbed douche bag star rock…except for one. Jenna McCormick - his substance abuse counselor. Usually a therapist isn't supposed to cross the line and get involved with a patient.  Ethan meets Jenna his new substance abuse counselor and sparks fly. Jenna is full of her own dysfunctional demons.  She is doing her best to help herself and her groups’ members.  Then Ethan walks into her life. Can Jenna pull Ethan out of his depressed filled life before he hits six feet under? Will Jenna be able to help herself and help Ethan?

I loved the way Rock Bottom picked up where Bullet left off without missing a beat. This story unfolded from both Ethan’s and Jenna’s pov. I enjoyed their internal dialogue which captured all of their feelings, observations and emotions. In Rock Bottom, Ethan’s behavior is not justified but explained.  He wants to get better and feel well.  I believe Jade Jamison did her homework on depression and the hard realities of addition.  She exposed the very essence of the pain, heart break and aftermath that drug addiction and depression causes. Rock Bottom might be one of my favorite books by Jamison. I have to mention the great steam factor – dam this woman can write a hot scene! I think RB can be read as a stand-alone but to really understand Ethan’s past and understand the bigger picture I would recommend reading Bullet (Book 1). Rock on and enjoy. 4.5 – 5.0 Heavy Metal Stars.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Bethany Daniel lives in Texas with her husband and 2 sons. She enjoys reading, photography and, of course, writing. Bethany really found the passion for writing again this last year and came up with the idea for Reconnected after years of following Hollywood gossip and reading books about girls always chasing the guys and thought it would be nice for it to be the other way around. She is currently writing Disconnected, the story of Reconnected from Liam's POV.

Disconnected (Connected #2)Disconnected by Bethany Daniel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. This review is spoiler-free. 3.5 stars.

Screen star Liam Warren needs to do a “re-shoot” of the most important roll he ever played…husband to Katy.  How does Liam really feel about his relationship with Katy? Disconnected (book #2) by Bethany Daniel is the retelling of Liam and Katy’s relationship from Liam’s point of view.  Liam got caught up in all the trappings of being a Hollywood “it” boy causing him to lose his wife. Four years later after searching for Katy he runs into her while filming a movie in Georgia. Their relationship gets a “re-write” Hollywood style.
I really liked getting into Liam’s head and learning his feelings and thoughts.  There were so many obstacles getting in the way of their relationship -- psycho bitch co-star, paparazzi, fans and a controlling movie company etc . Although the story felt very rushed, this second chance romance unraveled pretty smoothly.
Disconnected didn’t feel like a regurgitated version of book one. This book can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I recommend reading the first book to get the full picture...but it’s not necessary.  I have to say I enjoyed Disconnected more than book one – Liam got to me :).  If you love celebrity/Hollywood romances – this book (and series) is for you.  Three and half Hollywood stars!!!

Excerpt:
A party ruined my life. It was supposed to be all about making a name for myself and showing everyone that I was the new kid on the block, but my wife was in the background and she left me.
When I got home from shooting the day after the party, I thought she would be there waiting for me with a home cooked meal like always. She had told me she wanted to keep something normal while everything else was so make-believe. But when I came in, all that was there was a note:
"I'm leaving. I hope you have all the successes you've ever wanted. I won't be along for this crazy ride. Goodbye.
Love, Katy"
I didn't believe her when she said she would leave. I thought she was just mad about all the girls in the house. I never thought she could really just be gone.
After I read that note, I tore the house apart. I ran through every room yelling her name and then I grabbed

My Unexpected Forever (Beaumont, #2)My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**ARC provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. Expected release date: September 2. Spoiler free review.**

I’m going to say this now and get it off my chest. I think I love Harrison a little more than Liam. Don’t get get wrong Liam fans (I am one also) but there is something about Harrison that rocked my world a little more (maybe because I was a drummer…. or he might be the most sensitive rocker out there :).

I highly recommend reading the Forever My Girl (Beaumont, #1) and then My Everything (Beaumont, #1.5) before reading My Unexpected Forever (Beaumont, #2).

My Unexpected Forever is the story of Harrison and Katelyn(Liam and Josie’s band mate/best friend). Harrison is the hot as sin, tattooed-covered drummer of Liam’s band 4225 West. Harrison is a single rock star of a dad. He moves to Beaumont from LA to be with his band mates and starts to really get to know Katelyn (you will know back story from book one). His heart starts to beat to a difference drum...he wants Katelyn in a baddddd way. Katelyn is a recent widower and doesn't know if she will ever be able share her heart with another man. She is wildly attracted to Harrison even though he is not her type. Harrison looks like a biker bad ass and she is unsure if she really wants him around her twin girls. Katelyn soon learns that Harrison has a huge heart and hard-on for her ;) The sexual tension between the two is the size of a concert hall. A lot could go wrong with a baby mamma and evil ex running around town. Life in Beaumont, TX just got a little hotter….

My Unexpected Forever might be my favorite book in the series. Heidi McLaughlin really did a rock star job developing the characters and continuing the story line from book one. Liam and Josie are totally embedded into MUF (which was great…it wasn’t just a character spin-off based book). I really loved book one and happy to say book two lived up to my expectations. Solid 4 base drum sized stars.

My grandma once told me that I can do anything I want, so I am.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I now live in picturesque Vermont, with my husband and two daughters. Also renting space in our home is an overhyper Beagle/Jack Russell and two Parakeets. During the day you'll find me behind a desk talking about Land Use. At night, I'm writing one of the many stories I plan to release or sitting courtside during either daughter's basketball games.
I'm also an active reviewer on The Readiacs - a site I own with my best friend and uber special beta, Yvette.
