My running shoes echoed as they clicked against the cold, tile floor while I walked quickly through the hallway connecting the main building to the emergency room wing. I was so lost in my thoughts about timing and the irony of my life that I didn’t notice the big, wooden door to my right swing open until Zach had grabbed my arm and pulled me inside.

    “Get the hell off me!” I snapped, jerking my arm free.
    He pushed me into the janitorial closet and closed the door behind him, blocking it so I couldn’t leave.
    “Was that them?” His face was hard as his piercing blue eyes drilled into mine.
    “Was that who?” I responded, irritation dripping from my words.
    “Them…the girls…our daughters.”
    My eyes widened as I fought the urge to lunge forward and strangle him with my bare hands. “They’re my daughters, not yours.” I spat at him through clenched teeth.
    “That was them, wasn’t it?” His voice was gentle.
    “No, genius, I was having lunch with some other random 6 year old twins. Get out of my way.”
    He crossed his arms across his chest and stood firm. “Why won’t you talk to me?”
    “Why?!?” I yelled incredulously. “I can think of five years worth of reasons, now get out of my way!”
    “Kacie, please. I have so much to explain.” He took a step toward me causing me to back up against the shelves of cleaning supplies behind me. “Can we meet up after work today? Just to talk? I’ll buy you a cup of coffee.”
    “Coffee? You abandoned us for five years and you want to buy me fucking coffee?” My heart was pounding so hard I thought I might die of a heart attack right there. I grabbed onto the hem at the bottom of my scrubs so that I didn’t instinctively reach out and punch him in his damn mouth.
    “I just want to talk to you. Please?” He begged with sad, pathetic eyes.
    “Sure, we can talk… in five years!” I rushed past him and pushed the door open. “Eye for an eye, asshole!” I called back before the door closed.

Wow effing wowwww! Pepper knocked it out of the park with the Quintessentially Q (Tears of Tess #2)   I have to say Quintessentially Q surpassed my expectations.  I liked Tears of Tess (Book #1) and I wasn’t sure what to expect from book two.  Sometimes POV/sequels are just regurgitated stories of the first book.  This wasn’t the case.  This was the story is all about the aftermath of what happens when Q and Tess reunite.  Once again Tess is collateral damage in this dark and twisted story of control, love and pain.  Q is a monster with a heart of gold…but is his heart big enough to save Tess from the monster inside of him?  Can Tess dig herself out of her own downward spiral? Will anyone survive this emotional abyss? I can’t say much without spoiling this one.

Pepper’s character development and writing style just sucked me into this book. I devoured QQ in a day. This subject matter isn’t for everyone…but if you can deal with it read this book and this series. I highly recommend reading Tears of Tess prior to reading QQ.   One click it now…especially if you like dark and disturbing Kindle Crack (like me:)

With nerves lodged in my throat, I pulled out ropes, cuffs, bondage of all types. 
Tess watched remotely as I piled my arms full of things and headed back to the 
bed. Placing them on the towel at the foot of the four poster, I looked at Tess. “Tie 
me up.” 
I never thought I’d ever say those words. But I needed her to bind me. I 
wouldn’t be able to go through with this if she didn’t. I’d run like a fucking coward, 
or lash out and hurt her.
She picked up the leather cuffs, the buckles clinking. “Where?”
Trying to curb the terror and anger and so many fucking things, I forced myself 
to sit on the mattress and lie down. 
My heart was a fucking crazy thing going a billion miles an hour; I couldn’t look 
at Tess. I couldn’t look anywhere but at the large canopy above my head. The four 
posters were sturdy—half a fucking tree sturdy—once she bound me, I wouldn’t be 
able to get free.
My stomach rolled and I swore I would be sick. Shit. Oh, shit. What the fuck am I
doing? 
Tess glided closer to the bed, looking like a malnourished ghost. She eyed the 
cuff, then my limbs. My fists pressed against my thighs, every muscle locked tight.
I hadn’t undressed. The element of having jeans and a T-shirt on
