I couldn’t actually dispute any of that, which made me even more pissed, hurt, defensive, scared and … confused.
I started to shiver. “I … I can’t do this.” I turned away.
I hadn’t taken two steps when I felt his hand wrap around my wrist. Jake tugged me, forcefully, pulling me around so I stumbled into his chest. His lips crashed down on mine, his kiss hungry, desperate, angry …
For a moment I forgot everything else but the hard pressure of his mouth on mine, the smell of his cologne, the feel of his body. I was surrounded.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars. Complementary review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. Spoiler-free. No cliffhanger/standalone.   Because of Kian is the story of Brynn and Kian.  Brynn is not looking for a relationship with anyone after getting out of her abusive relationship with her ex- Evan. Kian is everything she thinks she is not looking for (sweet, sexy, protector type). Brynn is afraid to ruin another man by “causing” him to be abusive and crazy.  The couple tries to make it work as danger lurks around the corner.
Because of Kian was an ok for me. I had a difficult time trying to connect with Brynn and a few of the plot elements at times.  I understand insta-love stories….but insta-bondage with an abuse victim? The story went from “friends” doing the nasty on a gym floor to "I’m into kimbaku/sadomasochism…want to do it? type of situation." Other than that this book was an enjoyable, fast paced read.
