ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.  No cliff hanger. I recommend reading Music of the Heart (Runaway Train #1) first…just for background (and it’s a great book). Spoiler-free review. 4.0 stars!

A heart attack brings them together…and a broken heart might tear them apart.

Beat of the Heart is all about AJ, the sexy Latin drummer from Runway Train.  He meets Mia while visiting a roadie in the hospital. Mia is a sweet and sassy cardiac nurse that he is instantly smitten with.  Mia has had her share of heart break and not ready to date…let alone date a rock star.  AJ is sweet as he is relentless in his pursuit of getting Mia to go out with him. Mia is totally insecure about her curvy body and emotionally burned out cheating and abusive men.  AJ finally wins her over and things are looking good and getting steamy.  Mia starts to question if AJ can keep his drum stick in his pants after an ex-girlfriend shows up.  That’s when things get complicated.  In the beat of a heart everything changes. Can the nurse fix her own broken heart?  Will Mia end up giving AJ a heart attack after learning Mia’s secrets?

I really enjoyed Katie Ashley’s Beat of The Heart. The characters in this book are really likeable.  I loved Mia’s best friend Dee.  Katie cranked up the heat in BOTH and I liked the steam factor/chemistry between AJ and Mia. Jake and Abby fans will be happy to know that they are a large part of this story. This is a great series that I would totally recommend and I am looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

Seventeen year old Nicolette’s life is turned upside down when her parents decide to move from Chicago to Californian.  She has to start all over again her senior year of high school. New friends, school and a changed life.  I want to remain spoiler free so will top line - Nicolette attends her first Hollywood party meets two guys - Michael and Simon.  Michael is a “bad boy” dbag. She manages to ditch him and meets and instantly falls for Simon (and so will you). Michael is a complete stalker and psycho.  The unthinkable happens and Nicolette’s life will forever be changed in a horrible way.
This story has a few good emotional twists and turns making it a page turner. Mary A. Wasowski takes her time crafting her characters and the plot of ACL. I have say Simon is going on my high school book boyfriend list : ) .  If you are in the mood for a solid emotional read than A Changed Life by Mary A. Wasowski is the book for you!  I will definitely check out more of Mary’s books in the future. Four stars.
