People call me Ruthless for a reason.

Whether I’m in the court room or in the bedroom, my reputation is well-earned. I’m either working hard, working out, or working my way into some woman's panties. But none of them share my particular kink, and I walk away feeling unsatisfied.

Until I met her.

She’s a friend of a friend, which makes her off-limits in my book. But then temptation had me by the balls and I had her up against a wall. She literally fucked my world off its axis, but it can’t happen again.

My fingers are clutching his shirt at his lower back like he’s my lifeline. I know if I let go, I’ll fall. Further under his spell, further into the oblivion of pleasure he’s promising with his taboo whispers. So I’m holding on, keeping myself grounded in the moment with the feeling of starched cotton pressed into my palms.

But there’s a voice in my head urging me to let go, and a big part of me—more than I’m willing to admit in this moment—that desperately wants to. I want to fall with this man who’s dominated my fantasies for months. Why not let him dominate me for real, like I’ve imagined at night with my eyes closed and my hand between my legs? Pieces of Heaven fills in the backstory of the police investigation that Mick and his partner Jackson were working on, as well as the aftermath. Mitch’s personal life and career clash, and his world could fall apart or become a piece of heaven. This sexy romantic suspense & crime drama had some solid twists and turns. Chapter Eleven

Marissa

The bells over the door ring every single time someone walks in. I’ve been on edge ever since I got in this morning. Lucky for me it’s been non-stop people coming in, so my mind hasn’t been able to wander to Lori.

Now that it has been quiet and I’m filling the salt and pepper shakers, my mind wanders. It wanders to my baby girl, who is somewhere out there begging to come home. The sound of her voice plays in my head on repeat. My hands start to shake, so I close my eyes and sit down on a chair before my knees buckle.

I blink away the tears threatening to fall over, my heart starting to beat so fast I hear the echoes in my ears. A plate of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and gravy is shoved in front of me. Phyllis’s eyes greet me when I look up.

“Eat that and then go home. You are done for the day. You’ve been here for fourteen hours.”
I look over at the clock hanging behind the counter that reads 8 p.m., realizing she’s right.

“I’m just going to finish filling the shakers then I’ll take off.” I know she’s about to argue with me when the bell over the door rings again, making us both look up.

His eyes find me right away. My heart that was starting to calm down is now speeding up. I focus on my meal, cutting a piece of meatloaf and dipping it in the gravy before popping it into my mouth. I try to ignore the heat of his stare, try to think of anything but him and that naked woman from last night. His girlfriend. I was so stupid to think that he would actually want me. I’m a used up stripper whose daughter ran away from home. I’m the opposite of what he wants or needs.

The chair in front of me is filled with his big frame. The scent of his aftershave, of cologne lingers around us. Musky, rich, and woodsy. It’s the smell that has seeped its way into my memory along with the way his lips felt on mine. The way that I just fit, like I was made for him. I blink away the memory, looking up at him.

Do you know what I love about Julie Richman’s writing? Everything! The Do Over was a heartfelt, realistic second chance romance. If you don’t believe in fate and soulmates, you will after reading this book. The Do Over will pull on your heartstrings from the first to the last page. Fans of the Searching for Moore series will fall in love with Wes and Tara. I adored this 30-something love story!

I knew from the first time I saw Marc Kirby that I was screwed.

Big eyes, scruffy face, brown curls – yes, yes, and yes. The man is wicked hot.

He’s also my roommate, and since I work nights and he’s at class all day – it’s like living alone at half the rent.

Then an unexpected night off turns into an unexpected morning in Marc’s bed, but it turns out we can't even figure out the screwing.
