Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.
He wasn’t even on my radar.
He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.

But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.

One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.

Getting Dirty by Mia Storm - Release Day Giveaway & Review

Check out my review & author giveaway for Getting Dirty.  This student/teacher taboo romance reminded me of a smutastic taboo version of Slammed by Colleen Hoover --- with slam poetry and all.

Dirty

A poem by Blaire Leon

If sex is dirty, why would I do it with someone I love?

If sex is dirty, then didn’t we all come from the dirt?

What if I like the dirt?

What if I want to get dirty?

What if I want to roll in the mud until I’m so fucking filthy that I’ll never be

clean again?

When twenty-five-year-old graduate assistant Caiden Brenner
asked Blaire Leon how old she was, she said she was a senior. He
chose to believe she meant in college. They connect over Lord
Byron’s Don Juan and, as their conversations become increasingly
thicker with sexual innuendo, Caiden finds himself obsessing over
a totally off-limits undergrad who’s bold, beautiful, brilliant, and
one of the most passionate poets he’s ever met.

But it turns out Blaire hasn't been totally honest. She's the
seventeen-year-old valedictorian of her high school class, taking
courses at Sierra State while awaiting her acceptance to Stanford.

Will Caiden get too deeply into Blaire to back away before he finds
out the truth? Or will their connection be enough to seduce him
into risking his entire future on Jail Bait?

Review of Getting Dirty

Getting Dirty (Jail Bait #1)Getting Dirty by Mia Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Spoiler-free review
Title: Getting Dirty
Author: Mia Storm
Release Date: March 19, 2015
Rating: 4 stars
Cliffhanger: No

Getting Dirty reminded me of a smutastic taboo version of Slammed by Colleen Hoover --- with slam poetry and all. Imagine if Layken was a liar and a bit promiscuous.  Then imagine if Will helped himself to a sixteen-year-old student and knew it was wrong, but did it anyhow because he was in love/lust and couldn’t help himself.

I love taboo romances, and I liked this one.  I didn't feel the love connection between these two characters. Lust yes...love not so much. Finally…someone faced the music for their behavior!  This story could have been ripped from the news headlines.  It was real, raw, and you definitely feel like you are Getting Dirty.  I’m looking forward to reading the other books in this series.  No cliffhanger.

This review appears on www.kindlecrack.net, www.facebook.com/kindlecrack, Goodreads, Amazon, Google+ and Twitter. A review copy of this book was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

“What year are you?” I don’t even realize I’ve said it until it’s out of my mouth.

Her eyes flick from the book to mine. “A senior.”

I feel my eyebrows arch before I can stop them. “You look younger.”

She bites her lips between her teeth for a moment. “Is that good or bad?”

“Neither, I suppose.” But my insides burn, knowing that she’s not as off-limits as I originally thought. It’s

nearing the end of January. Commencement will be here soon enough. She graduates and all bets are

off.

“So…” she says, twisting a finger into the ends of her hair. “I know you like old, dead poets. How do you

feel about hearing something fresher?”

I lean toward her. “Such as?”

“I’m reading in a poetry slam tonight. It’s just something over at Tino’s in Jonestown on the fourth Friday

of every month. There’s no prize money or anything, but I perform something new pretty much every

month.”

“A poetry slam…” I want to say yes in the worst way, but it feels dangerously like a date.

She must read the hesitation in my eyes. “If it’s too weird, no worries. I just thought, since you like

poetry…”

She leaves the thought dangling. Like a noose. And I jump right into it. “Yeah. Why not?”

“I got you a Redheaded Slut,” an auburn haired girl said from my side. I turned to see her holding a drink out to me. While taking it from her grasp, I idly wondered if she was trying to tell me something about herself. Was she giving me a proposition with her drink choice?

The question was on the tip of my tongue, but I swallowed it quickly along with a sip of brown liquid. Jägermeister. Nice.

“What are you drinking?” I asked when she picked a big martini glass up from the table next to where we stood.

“Mmmm,” she breathed after a sip. Licking her lips, her eyes rolled into her head and a look of ecstasy crossed her face. “Suck, Bang and Blow.”

Something about the pout of her lips as she said it did dangerous things to my body. My muscles clenched and my dick twitched.

“Oh yeah?” I croaked out past a suddenly dry throat.

“Yep. It’s delicious and,” she leaned in conspiratorially before whispering in my ear, “I’m very good at it.”

“I bet you are,” I murmured to her cleavage where my eyes had drifted down to.

“I could show you,” she offered. Her hand stroked down my chest and slid underneath the waistband of my jeans. Even in my lust and drunken haze I knew she was making sloppy work of finding her target. It wasn’t as if it was a small one.

I stepped back causing her hand to slip out of my pants. “I don’t think that’s such a good idea.”

“Ben!” Meredith shouted to me, thankfully saving me from the protest I could see forming on the vixen’s lips.

“What’s up?” I semi-slurred when I joined her a few feet away.

“We were just discussing what type of sex toys men like to use in the bedroom. Of course we have the vibrator, the dildo, nipple clamps and the cock ring.” Meredith ticked each one off on her fingers. “We wanted to know what you thought of butt plugs and anal beads. Do you believe in starting out small and working your way up? Or just going for the gusto?” She blinked up at me in earnest when she finished her tirade.

My head was spinning with thoughts of vibrators and cock rings.

Was it suddenly really hot in here?

“I... uh... I’m not sure what to say to that.” My hand automatically went up to loosen my collar and I belatedly remembered I wasn’t wearing a shirt.

The women surrounding her burst out laughing at my uneasiness.

“I forgot how easy it was to fluster you. Definitely not the dirty talker your brother is are you?” Meredith teased.

“Well... um... in the heat of the moment sure,” I stammered. Taking a proffered drink, I sucked it back, completely uncomfortable with discussing my sex life with a bunch of random women.

“You’re a good guy, Ben.” Meredith patted my face in a warm gesture and kissed my cheek. “Don’t ever change.”

Prologue

Three little words.
If anyone asked what I was most afraid of, what terrified me, stole my breath, and made my life flicker before my eyes, I would say three little words.
How could my perfect life plummet so far into hell?
How could my love for Brax twist so far into unfixable?
The black musty hood over my head suffocated my thoughts, and I sat with hands bound behind my back. Twine rubbed my wrists with hungry stringed teeth, ready to bleed me dry in this new existence.
Noise.
The cargo door of the airplane opened and footsteps thudded toward us. My senses were dulled, muted by the black hood; my mind ran amok with terror-filled images. Would I be raped? Mutilated? Would I ever see Brax again?
Male voices argued, and someone wrenched my arm upright. I flinched, crying out, earning a fist to my belly.
Tears streamed down my face. The first tears I shed, but definitely not the last.
This was my new future.  Fate threw me to the bastards of Hades.
“That one.”
My stomach twisted, threatening to evict empty contents. Oh, God.
Three little words:
I was sold.

Excerpt
Q’s face twisted; he captured my cheeks between hot hands. “What are you?” he clipped, face hard and unreadable.
The question anchored me and I looked into his pale ferocious eyes. I knew the answer he wanted. “I’m yours.”
He sucked in a heavy breath, body jerking. “Say it again, but not in English.”
Q intoxicated me. My lips parted, and I wanted to stay captured by him, forever. An ancient connection linked us together. I looked into his soul—it churned with agony and demons, but he wasn’t evil.
Q dropped his gaze to my lips. “Je suis à toi.” Something feral heated his features; he pressed his mouth against mine in one fast kiss. “It means, I am yours.”
My breath stuttered as power sliced, deep and fast, igniting broken parts of me with sparks. His allure, his power, all magnified to fist around my stomach. In the dark recess of my brain, I translated his words to him being mine. The power trip the little words gave was indescribable.
No wonder he wanted me to say it. I was drunk on them. He was mine. Mine.
What life did Q live, needing to hear such a strong affirmation? What ghosts haunted him?
Q tightened his fingers, biting into my jaw. “Say it.”
With his command, I fumbled into the victim I was, the rape survivor, the slave. The brief sense of ownership left me bereft.
Q twisted my nipple under the wet material of my bra. His cruelty reddened my skin and fight skittered into yielding. He sent me reeling into needful and damaged. I’d been so close to finding strength, but he took it away in an instant.
Fresh tears spilled as I whispered, “Je suis à toi.”
Q sighed heavily, resting his forehead on mine. “Will you run again? Will you leave the one man who wants you above all others? Leave his protection?” His voice wavered with regret, resignation, as if he expected me to run, and already suffered loneliness.
My eyes popped wide; I shook my head. “No, I won’t run again.”
He looked with half-hooded eyes. “How can you be so sure? Don’t I scare you? Repulse you?”
He never repulsed me, and fear where Q was concerned was an aphrodisiac. But I couldn’t tell him. “I will never escape. Je suis à toi.”

EXCERPT

In the first moments onstage, I’m always blinded.
The bright lights, the smoke. The wall of sound that feels almost tangible, as if it’s trying to keep me out, push me back, protect me from what’s going to happen next. I’m used to the dancing and the catcalls and the reaching, grabbing hands—as much as I can be. But I’m never quite used to this moment, being blinded, feeling small.
I reach for the pole and find it, swinging my body around so the gauzy scrap of fabric flies up, giving the men near the stage a view of my ass. I still can’t quite make anything out. There are dark spots in my vision.
The smile’s not even a lie, not really. It’s a prop, like the four-inch heels and the wings that snap as I drop them to the stage.
Broken.
A few people clap from the back.
Now all that’s left is the thin satin fabric. I grip the pole and head into my routine, wrapping around, sliding off, and starting all over again. I lose myself in the physicality of it, going into the zone as if I were running a marathon. This is the best part, reveling in the burn of my muscles, the slide of the metal pole against my skin and the cold, angry rhythm of the song. It’s not like ballet, but it’s still a routine. Something solid, when very few things in my life are solid.
I finish on the pole and begin to work the stage, moving around so I can collect tips. I can see again, just barely, making out shadowy silhouettes in the chairs.
