“That’s very sweet of you to say,” he jokes.
“Well, I’m a sweetheart, what can I say. Listen, sorry to attack you, I should have checked the card first.”
“You can call me anytime, for anything. I won’t hold it against you.”
“Ok,” I laugh. “I’m hanging up now.”
“Alright, you do that. But, Red, when am I going to see you again?”
“I haven’t decided on that yet.”
“You’re hurting me. I just want to be your friend and you’re putting up road blocks.”
“I’m totally not buying this friend act.”
“You should, because it can’t be more unless you want it to be. Besides, we have fun. We get along. You want fun, right?”
“You’re trying too hard, Jonathan. I’m going now.”
I can hear the smile in his voice. “Bye, Red.”
Hitting the end call button, I walk over to my desk and pull the blue ribbon on the box to get to the card.

Smiling, I open the box and find a red velvet cupcake inside. When I bite into it–and yes, I eat it immediately–it’s the softest, most flavour-filled baked treat I have ever had the pleasure of eating–and I’ve eaten a lot, so I know what I’m talking about.
“You are very popular lately,” Erin, our receptionist comments on her way past my office. “You’re getting more deliveries than anyone else here. And the guy who dropped that off was H-O-T. Oh my lord, you are one lucky woman.”
“He was here?” I ask, pointing at the box as I talk through a mouthful of cake.
“I think so. Dark hair, brown eyes, tatts all over his arms? He was wearing a white bonds shirt, a pair of jeans, and some Vans. He didn’t seem like a courier to me.”
“That’s him alright. How long ago?”
“Maybe an hour? I told him you don’t get in until nine.”
I swallow the last of the cake and lick the crumbs off my fingers and my lips, apologising that there was only one in the box as I do. Then I thank Erin for dropping by and when she leaves, turn to my phone again, this time ringing the correct person for a thank you.

Hidden Gem Alert –If you like celebrity/ordinary girl romances....look no further. Finding Jordie by H.J Harley is perfect.  Finding Jordie is a fairytale love story that will tear your heart in two. I cried a few ugly tears until I reached an emotion packed Hollywood-style HEA. I loved everything about this book – the plot, dialogue, angst…and especially Jordie.  She is one tough and smart heroine. Then there is Nathan...  I still cannot believe this is the writer’s first book.  There is no cliffhanger but this book is part of a series.  I hope that Jordie’s best friend gets her own book.  She was an absolute RIOT.  Holler…biotch (read it and you will understand:).  I’m officially a fan of this incredible writer and this book. HJ Harley Bio:
HJ grew up in Bricktown New Jersey, less than an hour away from New York City. As a teenager and early twenties, she loved hanging out in the glamor of NYC. She was a "City Brat" so it was pretty difficult for her to pack her stuff and three cats in 2005, for a life changing road trip, moving to California. Insidious by Aleatha Romig is absolutely brilliant. This new raw, in-your-face, erotic suspense thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat Romig style!  Insidious is a dark and twisted roller coaster ride that will blow you away.  Romig turned up the heat and mind-screw factor with this one. I will not tell you anything that will spoil this one for you. Romig has raised the bar with her highly skilled ability to weave together a compelling thriller with an intricate web of sex, lies and video tape.

The characters in Here With Me are still here with me…in my head and my heart a week after reading this book. I devoured this “unputabledownable” book in one day.   This book cut my heart in two.  I knew from the synopsis that Evan wasn’t dead.  The way he was reintroduced back into Rylie’s and Evan’s lives was like ripping a band aid off. You know that feeling when you know you have to pull off a band-aid from a painful injury…and you know it’s going to hurt, and you want to get it over with.  I wanted it to happen….I was a wreck.  The way this story unraveled, the characters heartfelt emotions bled onto each page. This picture perfect romance turns into the ultimate gut wrenching, angst-filled love triangle.

Heidi McLaughlin hit it out of the park with the first book in the Archer Brothers series.  There is a cliffhanger…but do not let that deter you from experiencing this beautifully written, emotion packed book.  Here With Me is a must buy!

They walked off the deck and Kiefer said, “So what did you want to talk about?”

“Hmm.  I’m not even sure where to start.”

“No pressure.”  Kiefer looked up toward the mountain across the road.  It was covered in evergreen trees and the sky above was a light blue, clean and clear.  He could see why Johnny wanted to live here.  Regular worries were gone, far and away, and it was like regular shit just didn’t matter.

Heather stopped walking, so Kiefer slowed and turned to face her.  “Um...I have a proposal for you.”

He raised his eyebrow.  “Yeah?”

“Yeah.”  She drew in a deep breath and looked in his eyes, but he could tell it was hard for her.  “I, uh...I don’t want or need a relationship.  But I’m so glad you’re my friend.”

Kiefer smiled.  “Ditto.”

“So...just so we can get it out of our systems...why don’t we, uh, explore our attraction, but...when we leave here, things go back to the way they were.”  Kiefer drew in a long, slow breath.  Was she saying what he thought she was?  “That sound okay?”

Honestly, no, it sounded like a copout.  He thought some of telling her that, but he wanted her.  He wanted her to continue to be a part of her life and he also wanted to step it up a notch after what they had experienced last night.  This might be his only chance to convince her that a more intense relationship could be a good thing.  So he nodded.  “Yeah.”  On impulse, he took her hand in his.  He wanted to start now.

Heather had other ideas, though.  “Not here.”  Kiefer couldn’t help the look of confusion that he knew appeared on his face.  She let go of his hand but got a little closer, almost as though she were afraid someone would be able to hear her.  “If we’re going to go back to the way things were after this week, then I don’t want to give anybody here any bright ideas, and I don’t want to answer any questions or deal with any looks.”

He nodded, saying nothing.  He could live with that.  And that also gave him several days to see what he could do to change her mind.

Jamison was born and raised in Colorado, moved from one city/town to the next, and she’s decided she likes it so much she wants to stay…although travel is not out of the question.  She lives in a big town in Colorado (not unlike the fictional Winchester she writes so much about) with her husband and four children.  She is working on becoming a crazy cat lady.  Okay, so maybe not.
