Author: Gemma James
Publication date: July 22nd 2014
Genres: Erotica, Romance

Synopsis

She sent an innocent man to prison. Now, eight years later, he's returning the favor...

I’ve been obsessed with Rafe Mason since I was thirteen. The twisted part of this story is that I still want him, even now.

Now that he's holding me captive on an island.

Rafe has his reasons for doing what he's doing, and if I'm honest, I can't blame him. I’m the girl who sent him to prison for a heinous crime he didn't commit.

But now he's free and the tables have turned...now he's the one driven by obsession.

TORRENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part one of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read.

Are you in the mood for a dark and dysfunctional romance?  If you are, then you must check out Torrent by Gemma James.

Rafe is hell-bent on getting revenge against the woman who wrongly accused him of rape, which landed him in prison. Alex is raped and beaten, and then accuses the man she was in love with.  Zach, her psychotic step-brother, will kill anyone who tries to get in the way of his relationship with his sister Alex.  All three are caught in a torrent of secrets, lies and twisted dysfunction.

Torrent is raw, gritty and isn’t a hearts and flowers romance.  I hope Rafe and Alex get their HEA. These two whackadoos are a match made in heaven.  Torrent ended with a doozy of a cliffhanger.  Don’t let the cliffhanger factor scare you away…you will need some recovery time from reading book one.   I cannot wait for book two.  One-click this one.

10 Random Facts About Torrent

1. I began writing Torrent last summer. Back then it was a barebones beginning about a young, reckless girl and her dead brother's best friend who couldn't fight his darkness any longer. The island has been in the story all along.

2. I really have Skye Warren to thank for how Torrent turned out. Last year around Christmas time, she called for submissions for a short story anthology about criminals. Well, I had an idea…and that idea was too good to confine to a short story. I decided to combine my earlier efforts with the premise of a girl sending a man to prison for a crime he didn't commit, and him coming back for what he felt he deserved.

3.  Once I had the island in mind (small, privately own, with a single cabin on it), I turned to Google to find out if I could find any real islands of a similar nature to use as a reference. There just happens to be one about three hours from where I live, situated on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. It even has a cabin on it. I've driven there twice and have seen it from the highway. I call it "my island." The setting in the novel, though based on real places, is purely fictional, with the exception of the Columbia River and Portland, Oregon.

4. I rewrote the beginning about three, maybe four times.

5. Zach and Alex were originally full-blooded siblings. I gave into censoring myself out of fear of being banned from retailers, even though I had no intention at first of writing sexual scenes between the two. Once I changed their relation to step-siblings, the brief taboo scene in the beginning formed, and in my opinion, strengthened the setup of the novel. It also opened wicked avenues for book two. ;)

6. I didn't immediately know why Alex sent Rafe to prison. She was a stubborn character who kept me in the dark for a while!

7. Torrent is the first book in which I wrote from the hero's POV. It was interesting getting inside Rafe's head.

8. One of the twists about Rafe's past (something he learns after he's out of prison) basically wrote itself into the story part way through. Same with Jax, Rafe's buddy. These characters and subplots just popped in of their own accord!

9. If you're looking for an easy read with hearts, flowers, and mainstream topics—this isn't the book for you. This story will make you squirm, possibly make you sick at times, and push you into the darkest corners of your mind. But I'm a romantic at heart and believe in happy endings. Getting there is hell though.

10. I do not feel guilty about the cliffhanger ending. Have you watched any TV season finales lately? AHHHHHHHH! I understand the frustration, and I'm evil enough to rub my hands together in glee. Don't lynch me. I'm working on the second book. :D

How is it possible that this series keeps getting better and better? I have found that the majorly of multi-book series just feel drawn out, or written about secondary characters that were just meh. Then there is the More series. This series is literally “unputabledownable.” The only other time I felt so emotional about characters in a book was from reading Colleen Hoover's books.

I'm not going to get into this book's plot...you need to read it for yourself. I refuse to spoil your emotional journey. I will tell you that if you are a More series/JMac fan you already know that this book is mandatory reading. There were times while I was reading this book I wondered how the hell Lucy managed to cry so much. Then I started to wonder about myself. Ugh...hello? Look at the tear stains on your face that resemble a melted ice luge. This book and this writer just take my breath away. That is all.

Shopping list after reading More Than Forever:

I am stuffed up and out of tissues after crying some big tears. WOW....wait till you guys read this one. Absolute favorite.

Dying for this JMac!

EXCERPT
Mom says that there’s absolutely no pain worse than labor. For sixteen hours, so she says, she went through absolute hell. She jokes that sometimes she wonders if it was worth it. I call bullshit. I say that nothing, absolutely nothing, can feel worse than being hit in the junk with a baseball bat. Lincoln’s eyes are huge as he grimaces. “I’m so sorry, Cam.”
I’m folded over myself, too preoccupied with the ache below my stomach. Sometimes, there’s a delay with the pain. But not this time. This time it was instant. I try to speak, but nothing comes out. He looks like he wants to cry and I want to assure him that it’s all good—but I can’t. Liam, Lincoln’s twin brother, is laughing. The little punk. I’ll be sure to make him do extra shit next practice. “Cam, are you okay?”
I try to straighten, but it just makes the pain worse. “Yeah, bud. I just gotta let it settle.”

“I swear I didn’t see you behind me.” There’s panic clear in his voice and for a second I want to tell myself to suck it up and quit being a little bitch, but I can’t do that either. The pain’s too overwhelming. Liam’s still laughing his ass off. My eyes narrow at him and Lincoln must notice, because he turns to his brother and pushes him hard enough that he falls to the ground. That makes Liam stop. He gets up and dusts the dirt of his uniform. “We should go, Linc, we’re the last ones here.”
Lincoln looks around. So do I. Liam’s right, everyone’s gone.
“I’m just gonna help Cam pack up,” Lincoln replies, picking up the team equipment bag and chucking in the helmets and bats sitting by my feet. He looks up at me again, and I can see how sorry he really is.
Standing to full height, I do my best to ignore the pain. “It’s okay, Linc. Seriously, it’s passed now.” It hasn’t, but he doesn’t need to know that. He finishes packing anyway and hands me the bag, it’s bigger than he is.
I take it from his hands and look around again. “Your mom or dad late to pick you up?”
“Nah,” Liam says, the laughter and amusement now gone. “Lucy’s here.”
“Lucy?”
“Our sister,” Lincoln explains.
They both turn to the bleachers and so do I. A lone girl sits at the bottom bench. Something flat, black and rectangular in her hand, kinda like a tablet, I guess. Her foot’s rocking a stroller back and forth. It strikes me as strange, because the girl looks familiar. She’s in my class, I think. She’s a freshman and she has a baby? Stuff like that doesn’t happen in our town and if it did, I’d know. Everyone would know.
“Lucy!” Liam shouts.
She doesn’t look up.
“Lucy!” Lincoln this time.
She still doesn’t look up, but her foot continues to rock the stroller.
“Luce!” Liam yells again.
Nothing.
My eyes narrow before looking down at the boys. “Is your sister…uh…hearing impaired?”

They both let out simultaneous snorts. “No,” Lincoln answers, pulling his cap further down his head and looking up at me. His eyes roll as he says, “She’s just reading.”

For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction." For every choice you make there are rewards, or there are consequences. It was my choice to walk away the first time. And my choice to chase her the second. But sometimes you don't get a choice, and all you get are the consequences.” "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” Unless that someone is Logan Matthews. Koko Brown is an USA TODAY Bestselling author and romance junkie who once read over 200 Zebra romance Club novels the summer before her senior year in high school.

One day, while daydreaming in bed, she came up with the idea for her first erotic manuscript. Taking a hiatus from teaching, she had enough time on her hands to flesh out the story in two short weeks.  A month later, she cleaned it up and sent it to Ellora's Cave.  By January, she received a revision letter from one of their editors and by March she signed a contract for her vampire erotic novel Charmed.

Koko calls the east coast of Florida home. Even though she's a multipublished author of interracial erotic romance, she has a life.  She loves to travel (three continents, 20+ countries and 38 states so far), shop in thrift stores, ride motorcycles, and volunteering.

I am not going to regurgitate the synopsis…but I will top-line my feelings about Tug by K.J. Bell. I knew going into this book, that Tug appeared in two other books -- Irreparable and Irreversible Damage. Since this book was touted as a standalone, I dived right in. There was an adequate amount of background information integrated into this book...but I still felt like I was missing key relationship related back story.  Now that I have read Tug I am going to go back and read the first two books.  I enjoyed the way Tug and Maria’s relationship unraveled through alternating points of view. I never expected this ending!!!!!   When does book two come out….what a cliffhanger!

I am not going to spoil this story for you—so I will hit on the basics. Silver is drugged and kidnapped by goons who are employed by a secret sex  slave retreat. Silver is claimed by a new Master who happens to be part of the operation. Kirk, Silver’s new Master, isn’t who he seems to be.  Silver will do whatever it takes to survive.  She starts to see and feel things for Kirk but is this situation irrevocable?

Irrevocable by Skye Callahan is Kindle Crack.  I got sucked into Silver and Kirk's story from page one.   Irrevocable isn’t over the top violent or graphic, but it had me cringing at times.  This book is dark..but not as dark as other books I have read.

The characters and the plot were developed really well and I was captivated from the first to the last page. I couldn’t put this “unputabledownable” book down and read it in one sitting.  Fans of Escape From Paradise by Gwendolyn Field will love this book.  Go and one-click this one.  Irrevocable is an absolute must read for dark romance fans.

Maggie never thought she’d see Clay again. So, she attempts to put her life back together after her heart has been shattered to pieces. Moving on and moving forward, just as Clay wanted her to. Clay never stopped thinking of Maggie. Even after ripping their lives apart and leaving her behind to get the help he so desperately needed. He is healing…slowly. But his heart still belongs to the girl who tried to save him.

When a sudden tragedy brings Maggie and Clay face-to-face again, nothing is the same. Yet some things never change. Can the darkness that threatened to consume them be transformed into something else and finally give them what they always wanted? And can two people who fought so hard to be together, finally find their happiness? Or will their demons and fear drive them apart for good?

The thing about love is that even when it destroys you, it has a way of mending what is broken. And in the shadows, you can still see the light.

EXCERPT

"I was very close to running out the side door and never looking back. Drive straight to the airport and jump on the first available flight out of fucking Virginia.

I had almost talked myself into it when I felt a stirring in the air. It was an intense humming that took my body completely by surprise. The hairs rose up on the back of my neck and I just knew.

She was here.

Maggie.

And just like that, the fuzzy black faded and way and everything clicked into place. My heart thudded into overdrive and my palms started to sweat, so I shoved them into the pockets of my slacks.

Of course she came. I knew she'd be here. And though I tried not to allow myself the hope of seeing her, I couldn't deny that I had longed for it all the same.

And here she was, looking the same, only better. Her dark hair looked shorter and was pulled back in a low ponytail. She wore a black wool coat over a dark green dress. She looked beautiful and perfect and the embodiment of everything I had always craved.

She walked into the church, flanked by her parents. I barely noticed them or the fact that Rachel and Daniel followed close behind. My eyes were only for her. I knew I should go to Ruby. But I couldn't make myself move. I stood there, rooted to the spot, not sure if I wanted Maggie to see me or not, even as I screamed at her in my head to look at me.

Please.

As much as I missed her and dreamed of this moment, I was scared of it. Too much had changed.  Yet after I saw her, my heart and body reacted the same as they always had.  She had been my crutch and now she was something else entirely, a painful reminder of all the ways I had screwed up. But watching my gorgeous girl move through the crowd of people, I only saw the person I had pinned my future on. And that was both exhilarating and terrifying.

I just added  INDISCRETION: VOLUME ONE by Elisabeth Grace to my reading list.  Check it out and enter to win a $10.00 Amazon gift card.

About INDISCRETION: VOLUME ONE

F*ck and chuck. Pump and dump. Hit it and quit it. One night stand. Didn’t matter how I branded it—that’s all she had wanted it to be. That much was clear when she left me with my pants down and my dick still out.
What she hadn’t counted on was fate intervening and our worlds colliding—again.
The day I showed back up in the life of Chloe Griffins, I knew I had to have her again. My body was hungry for another taste. Like an addict, I’d been craving another hit for months, and there she was—flesh and bone, tits and ass.
The fact that she worked for the competition should’ve been reason enough for me to leave her alone. I had a job to do that summer and f*cking Chloe wasn’t part of it. But I was like a man possessed.
I’d do whatever it took to have her again.

a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof

They say when you assume that you make an ass out of you and me. Kenton Mayson learned this lesson firsthand when he made assumptions about Autumn Freeman and the kind of woman she is based on what little information he had. What he finds out is she’s not only beautiful, but also smart, funny, a fighter, and exactly the kind of woman he wants to share his life with. Autumn made assumptions of her own about Kenton, and now he needs to prove her wrong in order to protect her and their future.

Prologue
I see you judging me. I know what you’re thinking. She has to be a slut; she works at a strip club and takes off her clothes for money. Yes! I work at a strip club, and you may think I’m a whore for showing off my body, but this is a talent that has been forced down my throat since I was a young child. Look pretty and smile. I put on a show for those who choose to watch. However long I’m on stage, I’m not even me. It’s what I imagine an out of body experience would be like—a performance, nothing more, nothing less. The people watching make assumptions about who they think I am, or cook up a story in their heads of whom they want me to be. I’m just another beautiful face.
Beautiful. I hate that fucking word. Who gives a crap if someone is attractive on the outside if they are dying inside? My whole life has been about what I look like. I swear, the only reason my mother kept me was to have a real-life, living, breathing doll she could dress up and control, which is the exact reason why as soon as I became eighteen, I got as far away from her special brand of crazy as I could. That’s also why I don’t date. The first thing guys do is look at me and see a pretty face, a nice body, and an empty space where my brain’s supposed to be. They have no interest in getting to know the person I am on the inside. They don’t care I volunteer my spare time, and they couldn’t care less I’m going to school to be an RN. They don’t ask about my hopes, my dreams, or

Title: Maybe Maby
Author: Willow Aster
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: July 13, 2014
Synopsis
Mabel Armstrong is on the verge of giving up. But just when things feel bleakest, there seems to be a shift in the universe. People come out of the woodwork. Her ex won’t leave her alone. An old friend finally tries to become more. Even the cute guy at the coffee shop starts paying extra attention.

Maybe Maby is a heartbreaking, and at times, hilarious story about coping with loss, finding love in New York, and learning to recognize hope in the middle of it all.

Excerpt
I take off running with him not far behind. When we reach the stairs, he swoops me up, takes the stairs two at a time, and tosses me on the bed. He stares down at me.
“Now what?” he asks.
“Let’s not sleep with our clothes on tonight.”
His shirt is over his head with one yank from the back. I lean up on my elbows to watch.
“Your turn,” he says.
“Your pants are still on.”
He unbuttons them slowly and takes his sweet time pulling them down. His thumb loops under the waistband of his boxer briefs and my mouth waters waiting for him to take them off. He says something, but I don’t hear any of it.
“What?” I ask.
“I said—are you sure?” He puts his hand over his mouth and looks at me, his eyes narrowing. After a long pause, he says, without conceit: “When we make love, it’s gonna change things. I want to know if you’re ready for that before we do.”
I move until I’m on my knees in front of him. “Things have already changed for me. I’m ready … if you are.”
He grins and pulls my dress over my head. “Haven’t you been hearing me? I’ve been ready for you for a long time, Maby Armstrong.”
His hands travel down my chest and he unhooks my bra, sucking in a breath when it falls to the ground. He smiles at my yellow thong with black skulls.
“You’re so edgy,” he smirks, getting on his knees while he pulls them off. He looks up at me. “I plan to spend a lot of time in this general vicinity.” He waves his hand over the area from my lips to my thighs. “And especially here,” he whispers, pulling me into his mouth.
I hold onto his hair for dear life. I nearly fall back on the bed, but his hands are gripped on both cheeks, keeping my buns of nothing close to steel in place.

Review of Maybe Maby on Kindle Crack Book Reviews
Maybe MabyMaybe Maby by Willow Aster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Title:  Maybe Maby
Series: No
Author: Willow Aster
Release Date: July 13, 2014
Rating: 5+ stars
Cliffhanger: No

Mabel (Maby) Armstrong suffers from OCD and depression. She manages to function with the help of medication (when she takes it). In addition to her mental issues, she is left heartbroken after her mother was brutally murdered and her boyfriend dumped her.

Maby is on the verge of just giving up and never getting out of bed again. Her job sucks; she runs into her ex-boyfriend and the guy she likes friend-zoned her.  Then Coen walks into her life and everything might be looking brighter.

This deeply moving and beautiful story is about finding love, overcoming emotional and health-related obstacles, compassion and acceptance.  Willow’s writing just sucks you in and never lets you go. She is one of the few writers that I’ll read no matter what.  She writes it and I will read it..it's that easy.

Maybe Maby just made me want to hug my Kindle.  Just like Mabe…I fell hard for Coen.  Here I am a week later…and I’m still thinking about this book and the characters. Considering how much I read…that speaks volumes. 5 beautifully written stars.
