Ford

I don’t have time for distractions.
I have a billion-dollar company to run. A father to grieve.
A legacy to fulfill.
Harley DeLuca is not my type.
She’s snarky.
She's stubborn.
And she’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen—even in her ridiculous grungy tennis shoes.
I can’t get enough of her.

Harley

I was a mistake from the moment of conception.
The sins of my mother have followed me like a nightmare in a horror flick.
I’m determined to make a life for myself, free of my past.
I have three goals.
Open a bakery.
Keep Gramps safe.
And forget that I’m Valentina DeLuca’s daughter.
There’s no room in my life for a man.
Especially an arrogant, condescending jerk like Ford Montgomery.
But now he's my business partner.
My friend.
And if I'm not careful, he just might be—everything.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Kindle Crack Book Reviews
Legacy is the first book in Laura Pavlov’s Montgomery Brothers series, and I loved it! If you like strong, smart female characters and cocky heroes, you will devour this unputdownable book. After a challenging upbringing and tumultuous childhood, Harley is living her dream.  Ford doesn’t do relationships, especially with a sassy business associate. The two share emotional baggage from bad relationships and family issues. Harley and Fords’ pasts and the present collide and life as they know it will change forever.  Legacy had great characters and the perfect amount of drama and steam. I can’t wait to read the other brothers’ books! One-click worthy!

EXCERPT

“What time are you opening the doors?” he asked, his gaze made a slow perusal of me from head to toe, stopping at my feet and huffing. “Do you own anything aside from tennis shoes?”
I rolled my eyes. “We open at seven, which is when you open, correct?”
“That’s when the building opens. I get here by six-thirty, and the Wilsons always had a cup of coffee ready to go for me,” the smug bastard said, looking around and taking in all the details. “This actually looks—nice.”
I laughed. “Thanks, I guess.”
“So, I haven’t found another place that makes coffee like they did. I was hoping you make a decent cup and I could stop here on my way up in the morning and grab it.”
“Well, I won’t be staring out the window waiting for your arrival, but you’re welcome to stop by, and we’ll pour you a cup to go, your highness.”
“That’s fine. As long as you can actually make coffee that’s tolerable.” He smirked. Ford wore a black suit, and a white dress shirt, tailored to fit his broad, chiseled body just so. His brown hair was a bit longer on top and styled to perfection.
“I can’t wait to hear how high maintenance your order is. I mean, this ain’t Starbucks, bud.”
He rolled his eyes. “I take my coffee black.”
My head fell back, and I barked out a laugh. “Black? And you’re being dramatic about it? How hard is it to make a cup of black coffee?”
“It’s all about the beans.” He crossed his arms in front of his chest and raised a brow at me. Smug bastard.
“You know, this is why rich men get a bad name. You’re ridiculous,” I said before shouting out to my bestie in the back. “Molly, can you grab me a cup of black coffee to go. Use the real swanky beans, okay?”
He chuckled. Ford freaking Montgomery the forty thousandth actually laughed. I was surprised to see he had an actual sense of humor under his arrogant, annoying demeanor.

BLURB

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

At first, my neighbor Deacon frustrated me.

Sure, he was great-looking and friendly.

But our walls were thin, and on occasion, he’d bring women to his place and keep me awake while he “entertained” them.

As a single mother to an infant, I didn’t appreciate it.

So, finally it was my turn.

When my daughter wouldn’t stop wailing one night, Mr. Manwhore came knocking on my door.
Miraculously, at the sound of his voice, Sunny stopped crying. And when he held her…she eventually fell asleep in his arms.

Deacon was rough on the exterior, but apparently on the inside? Mr. Single-and-Ready-to-Mingle was a baby whisperer.

After that night, we became friends.

He’d go for coffee runs. Come over to chat. Normal friend stuff.

But over time, our conversations ran deeper. We got closer.

Until one night we crossed the line.

Our friendship turned into a complicated mess.

I’d gone and fallen for a guy who’d sworn off commitment and kids.

I knew Deacon was starting to care for me too, even though Sunny and I didn’t fit into any plan he’d ever imagined for himself.

He was wrong for me—so wrong that I’d dubbed him the “anti-boyfriend.”

Then why did I wish more than anything that I could be the one woman to change him?

College Romance Books

When someone tells you who you are, do you believe them?

The first question the cops asked me was if anything out of the ordinary happened to me lately.

When I woke up this morning in the room of a mental institution I couldn't remember a thing - not my name nor how I got there. Not how I left or how I ended up in that interrogation room.

The only thing I knew came from the contents inside my bag. A wallet, a student ID, a key that opened an unknown door, and two notebooks.

They tell me my name. It matches my IDs.

They tell me my story. I shut my eyes and try to piece it together, but can't.

They tell me why they picked me up in the first place. They thought I was my sister. My brain stays stuck there. I try to rewind and fast-forward, as if my memories were on a videotape, but it's no use. I can't recall having a sister.

They put me back in the car and drop me off in front of a mansion they call The Manor and I discover what the mysterious key in my backpack opens the front door, and just as quickly wish I'd never unlocked it at all.

Twisted Circles is a complete standalone that takes place in the same "world" as Half-Truths.

Excerpt

“What the hell did I just see?” My voice was hoarse, the screams I’d contained ripping the tone from it.
“I don’t know.”
“What do you . . . ” I shook my head, covering my face. “You’re not going to tell me. You wouldn’t tell me. You’re the president of this freakish cult. Of course you wouldn’t tell me.”
“I don’t know.” His voice carried and brought my gaze back to his. “I really don’t know.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“That’s too bad.” He shook his head. “It doesn’t change the fact that I’m not lying.”
“I should have left with your brother.”
“My brother?” His expression turned serious. He glanced away for a long moment, staring at the portrait beside us. I had no idea who it was, but it was a man wearing a black little hat and a cross. A priest of sorts. Adam looked at me again. “My brother can’t help you.”
“And you can?” I nodded toward the back of the room. “You won’t even tell me why I just saw what I saw.”
“I don’t know the answer to that.” His jaw set.
“Your brother said you were going to bury me.”
“What else did Nolan decide to tell you?”
“Not much.”
“He shouldn’t have spoken to you. He knows better.”
“Free country and all.”
“Not in here.” Adam’s lip tilted. “You’re under our command in here.”
“Are you going to do to me what they’re doing to that woman?”
“No.”
“Are you going to bury me?” I swallowed, waiting.
“Yes.”
Yes. No hesitation.
“Are . . . are you going to kill me?”
“No.”
“You’re going to bury me alive?”
“Yes.”
Again, no hesitation. My heart skipped. Where was I and who were these people? I realized that I could scream, I could punch him, I could try to run, but I wouldn’t get very far.
“Is that part of the initiation?” I licked my lips, mentally preparing myself.
“Yes.”
“Were you buried?”
“We all were.”
“Has anyone died?” My lip quivered again. I blinked my eyes, more tears fell. I wiped them quickly.
He didn’t answer, but with the way his lips set into a hard line, he didn’t have to.

Spoiler-free review of Twisted Circles
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4.0 4.5 - Nothing is what it seems in Twisted Circles (Secrets Society #2) by Claire Contreras. Like in Half Truths (Secrets Society #1), this mystery-suspense takes place at Ellis University. This book was a twisted and dark joyride into the underbelly of a cult-like secret society on campus. I’m not going to spoil this one for you. You have to go in blind, and experience it for yourself.

BLURB

The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar.
Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born.
Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day—when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.
The two men spent years fighting over Grace Copeland, who also happened to be their third business partner.  But in the end, neither man could steal half of her heart away from the other.
Eventually, they all went their separate ways.  Our grandfathers married other women, and the two men became one of the biggest business rivals in history.
Our fathers continued the family tradition of feuding.  And then Weston and I did, too.
For the most part, we kept as much distance as possible.
Until the day the woman who started the feud died—and unexpectedly left one of the most valuable hotels in the world to our grandfathers to share.
Now I’m stuck in a hotel with the man I was born to hate, trying to unravel the mess our families inherited.
As usual, it didn’t take long for us to be at each other’s throats.
Weston Lockwood was everything I hated: tall, smart, cocky, and too gorgeous for his own good.  We were fire and ice.
But that shouldn’t be an issue. Our families were used to being at war. There was just one minor problem, though.   Every time Weston and I fought, we somehow wound up in bed.

If you think this cover is hot wait until you read Vi Keeland’s sexiest book to date. I loved this story so much!!! Spoiler-free review to follow!

Update:
Pack your bags. You're going on a sexy trip to The Countess hotel, with Weston and Sophia. Holly hell, The Rivals, by Vi Keeland, is downright addictive and seductive! This book is unputdownable. The Rivals is everything that you want in a romance - a solid story, fantastic characters, combustible attraction, and flirty fun. The Rivals is Vi's sexist book to date. I love it when Vi spices things up, and spicy definitely works for Weston and Sophia. I think she took this one to ghost pepper habanero spice level! This rivals-to-lovers romance is dirty, sexy, perfection peppered with a little sweet fun. I can't give enough love to Vi's books. The Rivals is going on my best of 2020 romance book list. “What the hell?” I pressed the button on the elevator panel a second time. It illuminated, yet the car continued to sit there. So I jabbed my finger at it a third time. Finally, the doors started to glide closed. Just as they were about to shut completely, a shoe blocked them from closing.
A wingtip shoe.
Weston’s smiling face was there to greet me when the doors bounced open.
My blood was near boiling. “So help me, Lockwood, if you try to get in this car, I can’t be responsible for what happens to you. I’m not in the mood anymore.”
He entered the elevator anyway. “Come on, Fifi. What’s wrong? I’m just playing around. You’re taking things way too seriously.”
I counted to ten in my head, but it didn’t help. Fuck it. He wanted to get a rise out of me? He was going to get one. The doors slid shut again, and I turned and backed him into a corner. Seeing my face, he at least had the decency to look a little nervous.
“You wanna know what’s wrong? I’ll tell you what’s wrong! My father thinks I’m inept because I don’t have an appendage dangling between my legs. The man I spent the last eighteen months with was cheating on me with one of my cousins. Again. I hate New York City. I despise the Lockwood family. And you think you can get away with anything you want just because you have a big dick.” I jabbed my finger into his chest and punctuated each staccato word with another stab.
“I’m
Tired.
Of.
Men.
My father.
Liam.
You.
Every single fucking one of you. So leave me the hell alone!”
Frazzled, I turned back around and waited for the door to open, only to realize we hadn’t started to move yet. Great. Just fucking great. I jabbed the button a few more times, closed my eyes, and took deep, cleansing breaths as we started to move. Halfway through breath three, I felt the heat of Weston’s body behind me. He had to have moved closer. I continued to try to ignore him.
But the fucker still smelled good.
How the hell could that be? Whose cologne lasted for—what had it been now?—twelve hours? After the gauntlet run he’d sent me on across town this morning, I probably smelled like BO. It pissed me off that the asshole smelled...fucking delicious.
He moved closer, and I felt his breath tickle my neck.
“So,” he whispered in a gravelly voice. “You think my dick’s big.”
I turned and scowled at him. While this morning he’d been clean-shaven, he now had a five o’clock shadow all along his chiseled jaw. It gave him a sinister look. The suit that hugged his broad shoulders probably cost more than Liam’s entire sweater wardrobe. Weston Lockwood was everything I hated in a man—wealthy, good looking, cocky, arrogant, and fearless. Liam would hate him. My father already hated him. And at the moment, those were actually Weston’s strong points.
While I struggled with my body reacting to his scent and how much I liked the stubble on his face, Weston slowly reached out and put a hand on my hip. At first, I assumed he thought he needed to steady me, as he had when I’d wobbled in the bar. Had I wobbled again? I didn’t think I had. But I must’ve.
Though when his hand glided from my hip around to my ass, there was no misunderstanding his intention. He was not trying to help me stay on my feet. In my head, my immediate reaction was to scream at him, but somehow my throat felt too clogged to speak.
I made the mistake of looking up from his jaw into his blue eyes. Heat flickered, turning them almost gray, and his eyes dropped to my lips.
No.
Just no.
This was not happening.
Not again.
My heart thundered in my chest, and the blood in my ears roared so loudly I almost didn’t hear the ding of the elevator announcing that we’d arrived at my floor. Thankfully it snapped me out of whatever moment of insanity I’d slipped into.
“I…I need to go.”
It took all of my focus to put one foot in front of the other, but I managed to walk down the hall and make it to my room.
Though…
I wasn’t alone.
